Location Services


NOTE: Screens and settings available may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

The Location settings let you choose how your mobile device will determine your location.

Turn On Location Services


1. From the Home screen, touch Apps 1 .

2. Touch Settings 1 .

3. Scroll down and touch Location 1 under CONNECTIONS .

4. Touch the slider 1 to turn Location on 1 .

5. Touch Agree on the Location consent screen.

Manage Accuracy Level


1. Touch Mode to select the accuracy level of your locating method.

2. Choose from the following options:

High accuracy: This option has the highest level of accuracy, using GPS, Wi-Fi®, and mobile data networks interchangeably to estimate your location. Data charges may apply when using this option.

Power saving: This option uses only Wi-Fi and mobile data networks to estimate your location. Data charges may apply when using this option.

GPS only: This option uses only the GPS network to estimate your location.

Manage Recent Location Requests


Your device will display any applications that have requested access to your location in this area. Under the application name, you will also see the battery usage required for this application to make the request. Touch an application to access its application information screen.

Use Location Services


Your device uses information from Wi-Fi or mobile data networks (or both) to help calculate your position. This option lets Google™ use its location services to estimate your location and improve search results and other services.

1. Touch Google Location Reporting. You will be prompted to sign in to your Google Account if you have not already done so.

2. Turn Location Reporting and Manage Accuracy Level on or off.

Manage My Places


My places lets your device recognize your location to provide relevant information and services. Add places such as Home, Work, Car, School, and Gym using Maps, Wi-Fi, or the Bluetooth® feature to recognize locations. For example, set your Home location using Maps to search for your location, or define your Car location by selecting your car from the paired Bluetooth devices.

NOTE: Only Wi-Fi and the Bluetooth feature are available for Car.

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps 1 .

2. Touch Settings 1 .

3. Scroll down and touch Location 1 under CONNECTIONS .

4. Touch My places.

5. Touch 1 to add a new place. You can also modify one of the five pre-defined places: Home, Work, Car, School, or Gym.

6. Enter a name for the place. You cannot rename a pre-defined location.

7. Choose Maps to define this location using GPS information. Choose Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to define this location by its connection to a Wi-Fi access point or Bluetooth device.

8. Follow the steps for each method. When using Maps, you will need to search for your location or use the current GPS coordinates. When using Wi-Fi, you will be asked to select the Wi-Fi access point. When using the Bluetooth feature, you will be asked to select the device from a list of available devices.

9. Touch Done to add the new location.

Delete a Location


NOTE: Pre-defined locations cannot be deleted.

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps 1 .

2. Touch Settings 1 .

3. Scroll down and touch Location1 under CONNECTIONS .

4. Touch My places.

5. Touch More options 1 > Delete.

6. Mark the checkbox for the location you want to delete.

7. Touch Done > Delete.
