Galaxy Note8: How do I manage apps on my Samsung Galaxy Note8 (SM-N950W)?

Looking for new apps or want to get rid of ones you don’t use? Learn how to download, uninstall, and disable apps here. You can also manage app permissions to grant or prevent access to other apps.

Note: Screens and settings available may vary depending on your Canadian wireless service provider and your software version.

Download Apps from Galaxy Apps


Note: Download apps made just for Samsung from Galaxy Apps.

1. From the Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen.

2. Touch the Samsung folder.

3. Touch Galaxy Apps.

4. Use the Search bar to search for specific apps or choose a category of your preference to find apps.

5. Touch the app you want to download.

6. Touch INSTALL.

7. After installation completes, touch OPEN to access the app. Installed apps are automatically added to Apps.

Download Apps from the Play Store


Note: Download apps from the Play Store. Read on to learn how to expand your app library.

1. From the Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen.

2. Touch Play Store.

3. Use the Search bar to search for specific apps or choose a category of your preference to find apps.

4. Touch the app you want to download.

5. Touch INSTALL.

Uninstall Apps


Note: No longer using an app? Free up some space on your phone by deleting it.

1. From the Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen.

2. Touch and hold an app until the options menu opens

3. Touch Uninstall.

Disable Preloaded Apps


Note: Certain apps are preloaded onto your phone for convenience. While you cannot delete these apps, you can disable them.

1. From the Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen.

2. Touch and hold an app until the options menu opens.

3. Touch Disable.

4. Touch DISABLE and confirm to disable the app.

Manage App Permissions


Note: App permissions grant access to other features of your phone like camera, contacts, location, and more.

1. From the Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen.

2. Touch Settings.

4. Touch the desired app.
