Galaxy Note8: How do I set up my Samsung Galaxy Note8 (SM-N950W) to use iris security?

Last Update Date : Apr 09. 2018

Iris recognition

Use iris recognition as an alternative to entering passwords in certain apps. You can also use your eyes to verify your identity when logging into your Samsung account.

Important: Do not stare directly into the infrared iris recognition LED as prolonged use can cause eye strain.

Warning: Do not stare at the iris recognition LED light when your eyes are less than 8 inches away from the phone. For optimum recognition, keep your eyes between 10 to 14 inches away.

Note: Screens and settings available may vary depending on your Canadian wireless service provider and your software version.

Tips for Using the Iris Scanner

Iris 1

   • Hold your phone at eye level, about 25 to 35 cm from your face.

   • If you are wearing glasses or contacts, it’s harder for the iris scanner to identify you. You can try taking them off for better results.

   • Keep your eyes open and look at the top of the screen.

   • Iris recognition works best indoors. It might not work in direct sunlight.

   • Iris recognition works best when there’s no dirt or smudges on the iris camera, LED sensor, or proximity sensor above your screen.

   • Add your own style to iris scanning. Go to Settings > Lock screen and security > Iris Scanner > Preview screen mask.
