Galaxy S6 - Force Restart Your Device (SM-G920W8)
In the unlikely event that your device becomes unresponsive, you can attempt a force restart. This will power your device off and back on without affecting any data stored on the device.
Note: Screens and settings available may vary by wireless service provider and software version.
Warning: Do not attempt to remove the battery from your device. Doing so may damage the battery and could cause burning and injury.
Ensure your device is charged to a minimum of 5%. If your battery is below 5%, the device may not power on after the reboot. A device that is completely drained should be charged for a minimum of 15 minutes using the wall charger supplied with your device.
To force reboot your device, press and hold the Volume down and Power/Lock keys on the device for 10-20 seconds. This performs a simulated battery disconnect.
Note: If your device becomes unresponsive or frozen after a software update or a fall, you need to contact us directly to solve the issue. More information and more steps will be required as force restart might not be enough.
