Can't figure out why your battery is always draining? We have the answer for you. You can monitor and extend the battery life on your phone to get the most out of it. You'll never be stumped about your phone's battery life again.

Screens and settings available may vary depending on your Canadian wireless service provider and your software version.

Monitor Battery Usage

You can view the estimated battery life based on how much you've used over the past week. You can also closely monitor how much battery your apps are eating up. Now you'll have no surprises.

From Settings, touch Device maintenance and then touch Battery. To view your battery usage, touch BATTERY USAGE. On this page, you can see the estimated battery life and breakdown of how much battery is being consumed by recently used apps.

Screen Timeout

Sometimes your phone just needs to take a timeout. Just kidding! But, if needed, you can shorten your phone's screen timeout to save battery life.

Navigate to Settings, and then search for and select Screen timeout. Select the desired option. Choose 15 seconds to save the most battery life.

Screen timeout is set to 30 seconds by default.

Block Accidental Touches

If you keep pocket dialing your boss on the weekend, you can stop the embarassment by blocking accidental touches. That way, you won't have any more mishaps.

Navigate to Settings, and then search for and select Block accidental touches. To turn on or off Block accidental touches, touch the slider.

Auto Brightness

Ouch, that screen is hurting my eyes. Turn down the brightness to reduce eye strain and save battery juice. Talk about a twofer.

Power Saving Mode

The use of power saving modes can affect app and device performance, some tasks and features may take longer to complete, or update. Additionally, apps running in the background may not receive updates or send you notifications when power saving modes are enabled.

Before you turn in for the night, set your phone on Power saving mode. It decreases your phone’s performance and saves battery life, so you can snooze worry-free.

Navigate to Settings, and then search for and select Battery. Select your desired Power saving mode. To apply a Power saving mode's settings, touch APPLY.

Power saving mode options can be customized before touching APPLY.


Check out all your options to save power:

   • OFF: Disable Power saving mode.

   • MID: Apply medium power saving mode settings which will adjust the brightness, resolution, speed limiter, background network usage, and Always On Display settings.

   • MAX: Apply maximum power saving mode settings which will adjust the brightness, resolution, speed limiter, background network usage, and Always On Display settings.
Wi-Fi Power Saving Mode

If you're always on Wi-Fi browsing your favorite blogs and video channels, you can save power on that too. You can also reduce battery usage by analyzing Wi-Fi traffic patterns.
