Where are my photos and videos stored on my Galaxy Tab S3? How can I move them?

Media Storage


The application My Files lets you access files stored on your device, including images, videos, songs, and sound clips. By default, your captured pictures and videos are stored on your device's internal memory. If you have installed a MicroSD card, you can save room on your device by moving pictures, videos, and other files to your MicroSD card.

Note: Screens and settings available may vary depending on your Canadian wireless service provider and your software version.

View files in My Files


1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps.

2. Touch My Files My Files to open the app that allows you to manage the multimedia files stored on your device.

Note: The My Files app might be in the Samsung folder on your device.

3. Touch a category to view the relevant files or folders.

Recent files: View recently accessed files.

Images: View all image files stored on your mobile device or your SD card.

Audio: View all audio files stored on your mobile device or your SD card.

Videos: View all video files stored on your mobile device or your SD card.

Documents: View all document files stored on your mobile device or your SD card.

Installation files: View all the installation files (.APK) stored on your mobile device or your SD card.

Downloads: View all multimedia files that have been downloaded to the device.

Internal storage: View folders and files located on the device.

SD card: View folders and files located on an optional microSD memory card (not included).

Google Drive: Sign in to view folders and files located in your Google Drive account.

4. For example, touch Images to view all the pictures stored on your mobile device or your SD card.

5. Touch a file to view it or a folder to open it.

6. If prompted, select an app to open the file type to view.

7. The file will be displayed with the selected app:

Move files to a MicroSD card


You can save room on your device by moving pictures, videos, and other files to your MicroSD card (not included).

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps.

2. Touch My Files My Files to open the app that allows you to manage the multimedia files stored on your device.

Note: The My Files app might be in the Samsung folder on your device.

3. Touch Internal storage.

4. Open the folder containing the pictures you want to move by touching it on the right panel. Use the table above to help you find where your media is stored:

Note: If you inserted a MicroSD card into your device and used the SD card as the storage location for the videos and the pictures taken with your smartphone, a DCIM folder will be located on your SD card.

5. Touch and hold a picture you want to move.

Note: Mark the checkboxes Checkbox by touching them to add additional pictures to the selection.

6. Touch the More options icon More options.

7. Touch Move.

Note: If you move the pictures, they will deleted from their original location and available at their new location. If you copy pictures, they will be available at both original and new locations (so they will be duplicated).

8. Touch SD card.

9. Select a folder and touch DONE to move the files in an existing folder. Or touch Create folder to place files in a new folder.

10. Enter a name for the new folder and touch CREATE.

11. Touch DONE to move the files in the newly created folder.

Note: Touch Create folder to create a sub-folder.

12. Please wait while the files are being transferred. The files will be available when the transfer will be complete:

Copy a folder from the MicroSD card to the device storage


1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps.

2. Touch My Files My Files to open the app that allows you to manage the multimedia files stored on your device.

Note: The My Files app might be in the Samsung folder on your device.

3. Touch SD card.

4. Navigate to the folder you want to copy. Then, touch and hold a folder to select it.

Note: Touch a checkbox Checkbox to add the corresponding folder to the selection.

5. Touch the More options icon More options.

6. Touch Copy.

7. Touch Internal storage.

8. Touch Create folder to copy the folder in a new folder (as a sub-folder) or touch a folder to copy it in an existing folder.

9. Touch DONE to copy the folder in the selected location.

10. Please wait while the files are being transferred. The files will be available when the transfer will be complete:

Change default save location just after inserting a MicroSD card in your device


Note: This pop-up window will only appear the first time you use the Camera app after inserting a MicroSD card (not included) into your device.

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps.

2. Ttouch Camera Camera.

3. Touch the OK to set your MicroSD card as the default storage location for the pictures or the videos taken with the Camera app.

Note: Touch CANCEL and your device will be used as the default storage location.

Change default save location at anytime


Note: Videos and pictures taken using certain camera modes will be saved to the device regardless of the storage location setting.

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps.

2. Ttouch Camera Camera.

3. Touch the Settings icon.

4. Swipe to and touch Storage location.

5. Touch SD card or Device to change the default save location.
