DCR - Digital Cable Ready. Digital Cable Ready TVs have built-in Digital (ACST) tuners and CableCard slots, and can receive digital cable broadcasts.
To receive digital television signals, you attach a cable TV cable from a cable company that provides digital cable to your Digital Cable Ready TV. Then, you insert the CableCard provided by the cable company into the CableCard slot on the back of the set. After you have inserted the CableCard, your cable company downloads the channel, programming, and subscription information you need to view digital cable.
The following Samsung TVs are Digital Cable Ready:
- All 2005 HL-R series Samsung DLP TVs except the HL-R5056W
- All 2005 HP-R and SP-R series Samsung Plasma TVs except the HP-R4262 and SP-R4212
