Samsung TV - Troubleshoot a Black Screen
Getting a black screen on your TV is frustrating, but a little red light could be the key to helping you solve your problem. Follow the instructions below to resume watching TV as soon as possible.
The provided information refers to TVs sold in Canada. The available settings and options may differ for devices sold in other countries.
If the Standby Light is on, this means your TV is receiving power, but is not powered on.
Try turning your TV on with the Remote first, and if that doesn't work, try the button on the TV. If the TV powers on with the button, but not the remote, troubleshoot your remote.
If it doesn't power on by pressing the button located on the TV, service is required.
If the light is off, there are two possibilites. Either the TV is on, but displaying a black screen, or the TV is off and not receiving power.
Using the remote, press any button except power. If something appears on-screen, the TV is on and the issue is with your signal. Try testing a different source, or a streaming app.
If nothing happens, try unplugging your TV from the power outlet for about 30 seconds. When you plug it back in, try to bypass a surge protector if you have one. Try powering your TV on.
