What Is A Dual Tuner?

Last Update Date : May 16. 2018

A dual tuner is, in actuality, two separate tuners, each with its own antenna or cable input jack. A dual tuner is required for TVs with picture in picture (PIP). Combined with PIP capabilities, a dual tuner lets you watch one channel in the main or large screen and another channel in the small PIP screen or window within the large screen.

Note: Dual tuners are always NTSC (standard) tuners. They let you tune in two standard channels through attached antennas or standard cable connections. You cannot use a dual tuner to receive HD or HDTV channels.
