Key Features & Enhancements

Design and interface

Color palette

Customize your phone with unique colors based on your wallpaper. Your custom color palette now appears in more apps, including certain Google apps such as Gmail, Google Photos, Chrome etc. 1

Colors and fonts

Similar features now use the same colors to help you understand them more intuitively. Text contrast has been enhanced to help you recognize important information.

Enhanced Dark mode

To keep you comfortable in the dark, Dark mode now automatically dims wallpapers and icons. Illustrations in Samsung apps now have Dark mode versions with darker colors for a more consistent experience that’s easier on your eyes.

More blur effects

Blur effects have been applied in more places to help you distinguish the important information on the surface from the less important stuff behind it.

Easier drag and drop

When you touch and hold an item on the screen, you'll get intuitive visual cues to show what you've selected.

Sound and haptics

One UI provides information that goes beyond visuals. Sounds and vibrations have been revamped across your device for a more intuitive experience. For example, sound and vibration feedback is provided when you move items around the screen to help you understand where you can drop them.

Sync vibrations with sounds

Sync your vibration pattern with your call ringtone and notification sound. 2

Camera

Instant video taking

Recording starts immediately after you tap the Record button, instead of when you release it, so that you catch those precious moments before they’re gone. In Photo mode, you can touch and hold the Shutter button to start recording a quick video, then drag your finger to the Lock icon to continue recording without holding down the Shutter.

Dynamic frame rate for videos

The frame rate can now be automatically optimized to give you a great brightness even in low light. 3

Focus enhancer for videos

Keep nearby objects in focus. Focus enhancer is now available while recording close-up videos. 4

Auto framing in Video mode

Automatically keep everyone in view, even if they move around. Squares are shown around the people the camera is following. You can also tap a single square to make the camera follow just one person. 5, 6

Enhanced night portraits

Take stunning portraits, even in low light. Night shots are now supported in Portrait mode. 7

Portraits for pets

Take beautiful pictures of your furry friends with various portrait effects. Portrait mode now works with cats and dogs on both the front and rear cameras. Some portrait effects can only be applied after you take the picture. 8

More options for portrait videos

Portrait video mode now supports video stabilization with both the 1x and 3x lenses for stable close-ups. 9, 10

Easier zoom recognition

Lens icons show the magnification level as a number, so you always know how much you're zoomed.

Detail enhancer for photos

Get more detail and less noise in your high-resolution pictures. Textures and details will look great even when you zoom in. 11

Enhanced Pro and Pro video modes

Stay in control with the redesigned Pro and Pro video mode settings. The cleaner look helps you focus on the shot and find the settings you need easily. New level indicators added to the grid lines help you keep shots balanced.

Zoom in farther in Pro and Pro video modes

The telephoto lens is now supported in Pro and Pro video modes so you can capture clearer images and videos of things far away. 12

More time for your Single takes

Single takes are 5 seconds longer than before, and if that's not enough, you can even add 5 more seconds of extra time to so you never miss a moment. It’s also easier to select what you want to capture. Just tap the button to choose from a varuety of pictures and videos. 13

Get the full Director’s view

You can save your Director’s view videos with separate front and rear videos so you can edit them later, even after you’re done recording. When you play them back in the Video player, you can switch between different views such as split-screen or picture-in-picture. 14

Enhanced scanning

Scan documents, then tap the magnifying glass to zoom in and edit them immediately. You can also do more after scanning QR codes, like calling or emailing someone instead of just adding their contact info to your phone.

Gallery

For trips or special days, you can also explore where the pictures in your stories were taken in the new Map view. Make your memories more vivid with new story features.

Revert remastered photos

Revert remastered pictures to their original versions at any time, even after they’re saved, so you never have to worry about losing the original.

Easier album sorting

Sort through albums more easily—even if they’ve got tons of pictures. In fact, you can sort albums by how many pictures and videos they contain so that your favorite and most used albums are always at the top of the list. A cover image also appears at the top of the screen when you view an album to give you a better feel for what the album contains.
