What is Bixby on Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, and Galaxy Note9?

Bixby is the Samsung intelligence assistant first introduced on the Galaxy S8 and S8+. You can interact with Bixby using your voice, text, or taps. It’s deeply integrated into the phone, meaning that Bixby is able to carry out a lot of the tasks you do on your phone—and more, such as translating text on menus. All you need to do is open up your camera and tap Bixby. It can also identify landmarks, give relevant information on it as well as offer places to eat in the area. And you can find online what you’re seeing in person.

The dedicated Bixby button on the left is a handy way to call up Bixby. A short press on the Bixby button takes you to the Bixby main page where you’ll find your frequently used apps, recent emails, and news that Bixby has assembled for you on one easy-to-use dashboard. Press and hold the Bixby button to talk to Bixby in a natural way, like a friend. You can ask Bixby to tell you things such as the weather, or what your next appointment is.

Bixby is available on Galaxy Note9, S9, S9+, Note8, S8, and S8+.
