C-Lab Projects Enhancing Environmental Sustainability: C-Lab Spin-off

EVAR

EVAR, a spin-off from Samsung Electronics’ in-house venture incubation program C-Lab, is now an electric vehicle company specializing in charging solutions. They developed Parky, the world’s first autonomous robot designed to charge electric vehicles, earning them two consecutive CES awards in 2022 and 2023. Regulatory constraints for waste battery reuse may delay commercialization. Nevertheless, as electric vehicles become more widespread, the company aims to use the growing number of increasing waste batteries in their charging infrastructure.

AIMT

AIMT, born from Samsung Electronics’ C-Lab, has since spun off into a leading vacuum insulation manufacturing solutions company. They have created “Fresh Bag”, a cold chain packaging product that can store food at low temperatures without refrigerant and a recycled PET insulation material made from recycled waste plastic. This eco-conscious packaging material, aimed at enhancing resource circulation, is the first in South Korea to be certified by the country’s Ministry of Environment. Leveraging its advanced vacuum insulation technology, AIMT is broadening its product range to include home appliances, construction materials, and cold packaging for food and pharmaceuticals.
