Human Rights > Commitment to Respect Human Rights

Transparency

Samsung Electronics publicly discloses how we respect human rights on its website, informed by the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, which guide how companies should uphold human rights. In addition, when disclosing additional issues, we consider the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark (CHRB) which measures the human rights approach of global companies. We also take into account the requirements of Know the Chain (KTC), which focuses on activities to prevent forced labor in the supply chain.

The Modern Slavery Act, enacted by the UK and Australia, mandates annual disclosure of our human rights activities. Additionally, starting from 2023, the Norwegian Transparency Act requires us to issue transparency reports for the subsidiary based in the country. Furthermore, in 2024, our business site in Canada began publishing reports to comply with Canadian reporting rule called Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act.

Samsung Electronics also discloses its official position on human rights issues through the online platform of the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRRC), a UK based non-profit organization that investigates impacts of business activities on human rights and the environment.
