We are equipped with a company-wide organizational unit, as well as units at individual business sites, dedicated to promoting our employees’ health, improving work environments, and preventing disease. Since 2020, DS Division launched the Samsung Health Research Institute (SHRI), Korea’s very first corporate research initiative specializing in occupational disease prevention and healthcare for workers. DX Division operates the Health Management Group.
We are equipped with a network of 17 in-house Life Coaching Centers and 13 Mental Health Clinics in Korea and operate the Life Coaching Center at 18 production sites and 11 research institutes in other regions.
To prevent employees from experiencing any disadvantages due to the stigma around mental health promotion programs, we carry out various awareness-raising initiatives for all employees. Through department-level group programs and mental health education customized for each career stage, we foster a culture of recognizing and practicing the importance of mental health management. In addition, we operate online counseling channels to encourage voluntary participation from employees who may feel uncomfortable with in-person sessions.
Employees who visit the Life Coaching Center or Mental Health Clinic can assess their mental health through psychological tests and, if necessary, participate in support programs such as counseling or medication. In addition, we provide annual training for department heads to help them manage their team members' mental well-being and strengthen their ability to identify and respond to mental health risks.
The Life Coaching Center, operated by certified counseling professionals, offers support on a wide range of topics including professional life, interpersonal relationships, personal distress, stress management, and concerns about marriage and children. It also runs specialized mental health programs on topics such as insomnia, anxiety, attention span, defense mechanisms, and leadership.
Each center is equipped with meditation rooms, where individuals can learn effective methods for managing stress through practices like meditation, relaxation, and tension and pain relief. All counseling sessions are confidential, in accordance with the code of ethics for counselors.
The Mental Health Clinic is a medical institution with psychiatrists from the Department of Psychiatry at Kangbuk Samsung Hospital stationed on-site, offering medication and psychotherapy for mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, panic, emotional regulation issues, and insomnia, which may affect employees.
All medical information is kept confidential in accordance with medical law.
To ensure that employees can access psychological counseling services without any hesitation, we continuously operate online psychotherapy programs and counseling channels (video, phone, and messenger options), providing support whenever employees need help with psychological distress.
If employees receiving treatment at the Mental Health Clinic experience symptoms that limit their daily life or job performance, they can apply for mental health leave or time off based on a psychiatrist's evaluation. Upon returning to work, they are required to participate in a mandatory 1:1 adjustment program, which includes psychological assessments, stress checks, 1:1 coaching, and psychological counseling support.
