Communicating Intergenerationally

GenZ Lab in MX Business

Since 2018, DX Division's MX Business has been operating a communication channel with the head of the business and other key executives. It brings together 120 employees spanning various positions and generations to address business issues from the perspectives of consumers and Gen Z. This allows employees to discuss major company concerns with executives, share current trends, and voice their opinions on the company’s strategic direction.

Starting in 2024, we launched the ‘Campus Connect’ program to incorporate the voices of young consumers outside the company in our products and services. The program invites university students to the company to gather ideas and conduct in-depth interviews. It promotes intergenerational exchange both inside and outside the company through company introductions and mentoring, contributing to the integration of diverse generational perspectives.

Applied to the Gen Z Lab because it is a platform for the company’s youngest voices to be heard.

The best part is that the lab unites people with shared interests, passions, and trend insights, regardless of age, position, or workplace, and we’re all able to gather various opinions. Another great thing about the Gen Z Lab is we can directly communicate these insights to management.

In-house Professor Program · Samsung Artisan Certification Program · Samsung Veteran Job Postings

In 2023, we introduced the In-house Professor Program designed to deliver high-quality education that reflects the characteristics and needs of the field. We select our in-house professors among employees with over 20 years of expertise, experience, and know-how. These professors develop content, teach, and conduct research within their respective areas of expertise.

Although I had worked at Samsung Electronics for 33 years, the role and mission of an in-house professor was a new challenge for me.

It was very gratifying and rewarding to hear feedback from an employee who took my course. In particular, they mentioned how my practical knowledge and life experience, which couldn’t be taught in any other training program, greatly helped them in their work.

Since 2019, the Samsung Artisan Certification Program has been in place to recognize employees with at least 20 years of experience in manufacturing technology, equipment, and quality. This program honors these leading experts who have honed their technical expertise, craftsmanship, know-how, and leadership skills.

In 2021, we also launched Samsung Veteran Job Postings to provide new opportunities to our experienced senior employees. We select candidates through self-application and a separate interview process that evaluates their expertise. This system supports career growth and contributes to the transfer of skills and know-how among department members. In 2022, we launched the Samsung Senior Track, offering high-performing employees with an opportunity to continue their service post-retirement.
