Interview

Non-IT Graduate, Samsung SW·AI Academy For Youth

“When I was an economics major, I gained an interest in programming. So, I spent some time studying it, and by graduation I committed to becoming a developer. Through a friend’s recommendation, I joined SSAFY. When I started at SSAFY, I had never used Java before, but I enrolled in a JAVA class out of curiosity. I think that the courage along with the training support at SSAFY shaped who I am today! If you find what interests you through SSAFY and begin to study it, so long as you don’t neglect your programming studies, I’m confident you’ll be where you want to be when you finish the program!”

Mentor & Mentee

“Being a SSAFY mentor was an invaluable experience that allowed me to share the lessons I’ve learned throughout my own fierce career journey. Seeing the mentees’ energy and enthusiasm reminded me of my own passion and drive when I was first starting out. I eagerly look forward to the day we can work side by side as colleagues, collaborating toward our shared goals.”

“With a non-tech background and a low college GPA, I really didn't feel ready to pivot to a career in development. But SSAFY gave me the exact environment I needed to consistently learn and grow. What helped me the most was working on a corporate project that felt just like a real internship. Getting regular feedback from my mentor gave me a genuine, hands-on understanding of what the workplace is actually like, and that’s ultimately what helped me land my job.”

Interview with a Graduate's Parent

“My daughter applied to so many companies, but she kept getting rejected. Then, a friend mentioned that even people without a tech background could become developers and suggested SSAFY. I immediately recommended it to her. Despite the unfamiliar terminology, intense classes and projects, she grew so much and is now thriving in her third year in the workforce. She formed an incredible bond with her SSAFY peers while studying together and pushing each other forward. The friendship is still going strong today. SSAFY was the launchpad that turned my daughter's potential into reality, and as a father, watching her journey taught me a great lesson in trust. I am deeply grateful to everyone at SSAFY.”

Interview with Program Manager

“I will never forget the excitement of the trainees when they first arrived at SSAFY. Those late nights spent wrestling with unfamiliar programming languages are exactly what shaped them into the resilient professionals they are today. Watching them overcome moments of doubt, stay true to their goals, and never stop challenging themselves is incredibly rewarding. At SSAFY, we remain as committed as ever to helping young people find their path and grow.”
