Our Efforts to Recycle By-products from Semiconductor Manufacturing

Recycling Consumables in Manufacturing and Production

CMP retainer rings

DS Division is working to expand the circular system for consumables generated during the production process. Previously, CMP retainer rings were separated and incinerated once their service life ended. However, we have implemented a new circular system that enables the reuse of these materials by purchasing products regenerated through recycling processes such as separation, sorting, cleaning, melting, and pelletizing. As a result, carbon emissions from the incineration of retainer rings have been reduced.

Air conditioning system adsorbents

We have also established a circular system that allows the reuse of adsorbents used in air conditioning systems. Previously, adsorbents that had reached the end of their service life were incinerated and discarded. Now, they undergo a calcination process to remove impurities, followed by sorting, crushing, and reformation. After passing quality tests, they are reused for the same purpose.

Wafer trays

We developed a recycled plastic material using wafer trays discarded during the semiconductor manufacturing process and applied it to the Side Keys and Volume Keys of the Galaxy S25 Series. By recycling wafer trays from DS Division into materials used by DX Division, we strengthen the circular resource process between the two divisions.
