Software Update for Samsung Galaxy S20 5G Series: Comes with 5G Network in Hong Kong to Enjoy Hyperfast Mobile Experience
Hong Kong – March 31, 2020 – Samsung’s first 5G flagship phone series in Hong Kong, the Galaxy S20 Ultra, S20+ and S20, is introduced with the latest software update to enable the 5G services launched by three local mobile operators on April 1. The launch ushers in a new mobile era that allows users to experience a hyperfast network. When Galaxy S10 users update their device, they can start enjoying the 5G network service supplied by local mobile operators in Hong Kong from April 1. In addition, the Galaxy S20 series supports outbound 5G roaming in mainland China and Korea.
How to Install the Software Update
On April 1, the 5G service will officially launch in Hong Kong, with the full series of the Galaxy S20 flagship smartphones supporting 5G connectivity. Users can install the software update through the following instructions:

1. Auto notification
When the software update is available, users will be notified of the update when connected to a network.
2. Manually update
Users can manually update their devices through:
“Settings” > “Software Update” > “Download and Install”
How to Use the 5G Network
The Galaxy S20 series, including the Galaxy S20 Ultra, S20+ and S20, supports 5G networks. Upon the completion of the software update, a new “5G” button will show up at the Quick Panel, which is turned on by default. Users can choose the 5G SIM card through “Settings” > “Connections” > “Mobile Networks”.
There are two kinds of 5G icons at the notification bar once the 5G network is activated.
1. Using 5G data
2. Under 5G coverage (no data usage)
- The Galaxy S20 series supports dual-SIM 5G+4G, instead of 5G dual-SIM.
- The Galaxy S20 series supports outbound 5G roaming in mainland China and Korea. Users should activate 5G roaming service from respective network operators.
- The Galaxy S20 series is currently not available for 5G service in other countries with other countries’ SIM cards.
