Galaxy S8 | S8+ “Accidental Screen Damage Protection Plan” FAQ
1. What is this cover?
This insurance plan offers protection coverage for accidental screen damage of your smartphones (Club S members with Accidental Screen Damage Protection Confirmation Letter 1-3500). This insurance is provided by Samsung Electronics Hong Kong Co, Ltd (“Samsung Electronics”)'s business partner AIG Insurance Hong Kong Limited (“AIG Insurance”). Under the plan's terms and conditions, should accidental damage to your smartphone screen occurs within 1 year of its purchase, AIG Insurance (representing you) will be responsible for the cost of screen replacement or repair conducted at the designated repair centre(s) of Samsung Electronics Hong Kong. You only need to pay a service charge of HK$300.
2. What does damaged by “Accident” mean?
The cover only applies if the screen of your phone is damaged by Accident. In this context, Accident means an unexpected and unintentional external event (e.g. dropping it).
3. What is not covered?
Accidental Screen Damage does not include:
i) normal wear and tear to the Mobile Phone;
ii) damage resulting from fire;
iii) theft or misplacement of the Mobile Phone;
iv) damage resulting from reckless, abusive, willful or intentional misconduct associated with handling and use of the Mobile Phone; or
v) any resultant damage to the Mobile Phone that arises from one or more conditions described in (i) to (iv) above
4. What is the cover period?
If your Mobile Phone is damaged by an Accident occurring within 1 year from the date of purchase of your Mobile Phone, rendering the screen broken or unusable, then you may take the Mobile Phone to one of Samsung HK's appointed Service Centres for the screen to be replaced or repaired and AIG HK shall pay for that replacement or repair.
5. How can you make a claim? What do you need to bring to make a claim?
At the Service Centre, you will have to present your Original Receipt for the purchase of your Mobile Phone and Accidental Screen Damage Protection Notification. You will also have to present your damaged Mobile Phone for inspection. Without these, you will not be able to make a claim.
6. Where are the Samsung HK's appointed service centres?
Samsung HK has three appointed service centres at:
- 09-12 & 15, 40/F, Office Tower Langham Place, 8 Argyle Street, Mongkok
- Unit 1502, 15/F Causeway Bay Plaza 1, 489 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay
- Room 1005-06, 10 / F, Ginza Plaza, 2A - 2H Sai Yeung Choi Street, MongKok, Kowloon

8. Can you make more than one claim?
No. Accidental Screen Damage Protection only applies to one event of accidental screen damage.
9. When should you make your claim?
You need to bring your damaged Mobile Phone for screen replacement or repair to the Samsung appointed Service Centre within 14 days of the date the accident occurred, otherwise your claim will not be covered.
10. If another component of the Mobile Phone apart from the screen is damaged as a result of the accident, is that component also covered under the Accidental Screen Damage Protection? If so, is there an added cost?
Accidental Screen Damage Protection only covers the repair and replacement costs of the screen. There is no coverage for any loss or damage to person or property, direct, consequential or incidental damages arising from the use of or inability to use the Mobile Phone.
11. Do I have to claim reimbursement for the repair or replacement from AIG HK directly?
No. Under the terms of the Accidental Damage Cover, AIG HK commits to pay Samsung HK direct for the costs of the repair and replacement carried out by Samsung HK when your phone has been accidentally damaged within the scope of your Accidental Damage cover. As such, Samsung HK will notify AIG HK of the costs and AIG HK will pay Samsung HK directly.
