Olympic Hero Helen Glover Joins Samsung to Bring More Good Days to Bristol

On 21st November, we brought More Good Days to local businesses at our Inspire:Bristol event. The evening explored how SMEs can create More Good Days by embracing new technology and showing true determination and perseverance.

We were delighted to be joined by three very special guests who shared their insight, knowledge and passion to really bring the show to life and delve deep into what a Good Day at Work looks like to them.

The Future of Good Days at Work
Ian Betteridge, top tech writer and Editorial Director for the renowned technology website Alphr.com, gave attendees an in-depth look at how virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) are likely to impact businesses in the future, influencing everything from product marketing to employee training. The crux of Ian’s presentation was that "every kind of business, every line of business, all of them are going to be potentially affected by VR."


The power of VR was further demonstrated in our exhibition area, where guests could experience virtual reality first-hand with the Gear VR and learn about the success VR has brought to companies including Audi, The Natural History Museum, and Sherry FitzGerald.

Smart payments company iZettle were next on stage to speak about the future of mobile payments and how this secure and time-saving method of making mobile transactions is likely to affect small businesses moving forward.

The Ultimate Good Day at Work
Headlining the event was Team GB gold-winning rowing superstar Helen Glover. The Olympian gave us all a great insight into her life as an elite athlete, what it takes to reach the top of her profession, and her best days at work, which surprisingly weren’t the ones where she ended up with a gold medal around her neck: "The moments that we’re (Glover and teammate Heather Stanning) going to remember, the moments that were the good days in our journey, are the days when it’s just us and we’re out on a rowing lake talking about how amazing it would be to win the Olympics."


The evening was a huge success and caused a real buzz on social media, with Helen tweeting about the event to her 38000 followers.

Sally Wright, Samsung’s IM Enterprise Marketing Director, perfectly summed up the evening: "Inspire:Bristol 16 has been such a brilliant evening; to see everything come together with amazing speakers, and the feedback I’ve had from people that attended is such a brilliant, positive feeling."
