How do I use Wi-Fi on my Samsung Galaxy S5?
Wi-Fi is a wireless connectivity feature that allows you to connect Wi-Fi-enabled devices to share information or to connect to the internet.
Please note that these instructions will not solve Google attempting to protect you from an unsecure connection.
Turning Wi-Fi on and off
Connect to a Wi-Fi network
Manually add your network connection.
Wi-Fi advanced settings
Follow the steps below to change advanced Wi-Fi settings.
Network notification: Receive a notification when an open Wi-Fi network is available.
Passpoint: Let your device connect to passpoint-enabled W-Fi access points automatically.
Sort by: List the available networks in alphabetical order or by signal strength.
Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep: Specify whether your device should continue to stay connected to Wi-Fi when your device goes to sleep.
Always allow scanning: Allow apps to scan for available wireless networks even when Wi-Fi is disabled.
Auto connect: When a Wi-Fi hotspot for your network is availalble your device will automatically connect to it if this feature is turned on.
Install certificates: Install network certificates stored on the memory card.
MAC address: This is a unique number assigned to your device's Wi-Fi transmitter.
IP address: View the IP address assinged to you by the Wi-Fi access point you are connected to.
From the Wi-Fi menu touch More options for the following options:
Scan: Scan for available Wi-Fi networks.
Wi-Fi Direct: Touch Wi-Fi Direct to turn on the feature and connect to available Wi-Fi Direct devices. Wi-Fi Direct enables Wi-Fi devices to connect to each other directly (or to a group of several devices), allowing you to quickly and easily share content.
WPS push button: Connect directly with your wireless router using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup button on your router.
WPS PIN entry: Connect directly with your wireless router by entering the randomly generated PIN on your device.
Help: View information on how to connect to a Wi-Fi network.
Smart network switch
Place a check mark next to Smart network switch at the top of the Wi-Fi screen to automatically switch between Wi-Fi and mobile networks to help maintain a more stable connection. Turning this feature on could result in additional charges from your mobile network provider as a result of increased data usage.
