What are the differences between the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge?

The curved screen made famous by its predecessor, the Galaxy S6 Edge, is just one of the differences between the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.

There are many similarities between the models including the colours they’re sold in, both have a MicroSD slot, fingerprint sensor and storage capacity to name a few.

Let’s take a closer look at the differences:

Size and weight

The Galaxy S7 Edge has a screen that is 16% bigger than the Galaxy S7. It is overall a bigger phone, weighing in at 157g compared to the Galaxy S7′s 152g.

Galaxy S7 – 142 mm x 70 mm x 7.9 mm

Galaxy S7 Edge – 151 mm x 73 mm x 7.7 mm

Due to the larger display the Galaxy S7 Edge does offer a slightly more powerful battery.

Galaxy S7 – 3,000 mAh

Galaxy S7 Edge - 3,600 mAh

Due to the smaller screen, the Galaxy S7 does offer more pixels per inch (ppi). However at this ppi density, this difference wouldn’t be noticed by the human eye.

Display size

Galaxy S7 – 2560 x 1440 x 577 ppi

Galaxy S7 Edge - 2560 x 1440 x 534 ppi

Edge screen

The curved screen allows for the addition of the the Galaxy S7 Edge Panel, which allows for the quick addition and access to useful apps and functions. Find out more about the Edge panel features here.
