How to update the software of your Q90R Soundbar

To experience the latest features you need to update the Soundbar and Subwoofer/Surround Speakers software to the latest version. 

Please note: In some cases you may experience no sound from the Surround Speakers, even though the blue LED light is on. If this happens, please update the software before contacting Samsung.

All units must be connected to a power supply, if they are not, connect them in the following order:

 

  1. Subwoofer 
  2. Surround Speakers
  3. Soundbar

If you are using the Soundbar for the first time, the pairing will happen automatically. If you don’t see the solid blue LED light at the back of the Subwoofer and Surround Speakers, you need to pair manually before updating the software:

1 Press and hold the “ID SET” button on the rear of the Subwoofer for at least 5 seconds. The red LED light at the rear of the Subwoofer will go on then off, before the blue LED light blinks.

2 Next, press and hold the “ID SET” button on the rear of both Surround Speakers for at least 5 seconds. The red LED light at the rear of the Surround Speakers will go on then off, before the blue LED light blinks.

3 Press and hold the up button on the remote control for approximately 5 seconds until “ID SET” appears on the display of the Soundbar.

4 When completed you will see a solid blue LED light at the back of the Subwoofer and Speakers.

Please note: Do not turn off the power while the update is in progress.

1 Turn on the Soundbar.

If a USB stick is supplied, insert into the “Service” port located at the bottom of the Soundbar. If a USB stick isn’t supplied, download the latest software onto your personal USB stick, then insert into the Soundbar.

3 Alternatively, use the SmartThings App to update the Soundbar and then continue to ‘Updating the Subwoofer and Surround Speakers software’ section.
4 “UPDATE” will continuously flash on the display whilst updating. The display will then show “BYE” followed by “ON” twice, after each restart.

5 After the 2 cycles are complete, the last source used will appear on the display for about 20 seconds.

6 Then the display will go dim.

Please note: If you are experiencing no sound from the Subwoofer/Surround speakers, disconnect and connect the power plug. Make sure the Subwoofer and Surround Speakers are still paired.

1 Power up the Soundbar and wait for three minutes. Briefly press the “VOL” button to ensure the display is lit. While the display is still lit, press and hold the down button for approximately 6 seconds until "UPDATE" is displayed.

2 During this process “UPDATE” will continue to flash on the display and the red LED light at the rear of the Subwoofer and Surround Speakers will blink quickly. This will take around 10 minutes.
3 When the update is complete the system will restart, displaying “BYE” followed by “ON”.

4 Then the display will go dim.
