Black bars on Top and Bottom of the screen

Last Update Date : Mar 27. 2018

If there are Black bars on the top and bottom of your screen, this is caused either by a setting on your cable/satellite box or by the channel or movie you are watching. However, the Samsung TV can be adjusted to help minimize this.

To remove or minimize the bars, use the P.Size or Zoom control on your TV or DVD player to enlarge the movie image. Click here  to set Picture Size in Samsung TV.

Important

  • If your TV is attached to a set-top-box, you may be able to eliminate the bars by changing the output resolution of the set-top-box.
  • In many cases, the cable or over-the-air TV company is broadcasting the program or movie you are watching in a format that includes the bars. If this is the case, you cannot eliminate them.
