Opening the

Charm Bar

 1. Put your mouse cursor in the

upper right corner of the screen.
 2. It will reveal the Charm Bar.

Then drag the cursor down to the

bottom of the screen.

 1. Swipe in from the right edge

on the Windows Start screen to

access the 'Charm Bar'.

Switching between

Running Apps

 1. Put your mouse cursor in the

upper left corner of the screen.
 2. When the thumbnails open up,

click the appropriate one for task

switching.

 1. Swipe in from the middle of

the left edge on the Windows

Start screen and switch to

another app.

Viewing a

List of Open

Tasks

 1. Put your mouse cursor in the

upper left corner of the screen.
 2. When the thumbnails open up,

drag your mouse down to see

the task list.

 1. Swipe in from the middle of

the left edge on the Windows

Start screen
then back again to the left to see

the task list.

Doing

Multi-Task on

the Monitor

by Dividing

the Screen

 1. Put your mouse cursor in the

upper left corner of the screen.
 2. Drag the cursor diagonally

down to enable split screen mode.

 1. Swipe in from the middle of the

left edge on the Windows Start

screen and switch to another app.

Creating New Groups

 1. Right click on empty space

on the Windows 8 Start screen. 
 2. Choose 'All Apps'. 
 3. Right click on the apps you

want to display on your Windows 8

Start screen. 
 4. Click 'Pin to Start'.

 1. Swipe up from the bottom

edge on the Windows Start screen

then choose 'All Apps'. 
 2. Swipe slightly down from the

top of the apps you want to display

on your Windows 8 Start screen

then tap 'Pin to Start'.

Adding &

 Renaming

New Apps

on the

Start screen

 1. Put your mouse cursor in the

bottom right corner of the Windows

Start screen, click '-‘(Minus). 
 2. Right click on the group you

want to name or rename. 
 3. Click 'Name group'. 
 4. Enter a folder name then

click 'Name'.

 1. Make a pinch-zoom gesture

on the Windows Start screen. 
 2. Swipe slightly down from the

top of the app group you want to

name then tap 'Name group'. 
 3. Enter a folder name then

click 'Name'.

Removing

the App

Tiles from

the Windows

 Start Screen.

 1. Right click on the app tile you

want to remove from the Windows 8

Start screen. 
 2. Click 'Unpin from Start'.

 1. Swipe slowly down from the

bottom edge of the app you want

remove from the Windows

Start screen. 
 2. Tap 'Unpin from Start'.

Closing the

Apps

Completely

 1. Put your mouse cursor in the

middle of the top of the screen then

drag the cursor down to the bottom.

 1. Swipe slowly in from the middle

of the top of the panel way down

to the bottom.

Running the

Menu by the Apps

 1. Run the app then open

‘Charm Bar’. 
 2. Click 'Settings'.

 1. Run the app then swipe in from

the left edge. 
 2. Tap 'Settings'.

Setting the

Auto Adjust

of the Screen

Brightness

 1. Open 'Charm Bar' on the

Windows Start screen. 
 2. Click 'Settings'. 
 3. Click ‘Change PC settings’

then click the 'General' menu. 
 4. Set the 'Screen' option to 'On'.

 1. Swipe in from the right edge

on the Windows Start screen. 
 2. Access the 'Charm Bar' and

tap 'Settings'. 
 3. Tap ‘Change PC settings’. 
 4. Tap the 'General' menu then

set the 'Screen' option to 'On'.
