What should I check when my oven is not heating?

If your oven does not heat enough:

  • The timer may not be set. Set the timer. If the timer is not set properly, the oven may turn off before the food is properly heated.
  • Check to see if the required settings have been applied. Check the power settings. If the power is set too low, the oven may not heat or cook the food properly. To apply or modify these settings press the relevant buttons.

If your oven does not heat at all:

  • The fuse in the plug may be faulty. You can plug your oven into another socket to check if the fuse in the plug is functional. If the oven works, it may indicate a fault with the other socket; on the other hand, if the oven does not work in the new socket, it may indicate a fault with the plug. You could change the fuse in the plug because that may have blown.
  • A household fuse may have blown or a circuit breaker may have tripped. There may be a fault with the socket. You can check that by plugging another electronic device in the same wall socket. If it is a circuit problem or the mains fuse is faulty the other device will not work too. Have a qualified electrician replace the fuse or reset the circuit, if required.
