From the Less Microfibre™ Cycle to the Less Microfibre™ Filter: Stopping Microplastics Before They Enter the Ocean

To enable customers to cut microplastic emissions from their laundry, Samsung first developed the Less Microfibre™ Cycle, a wash course that reduces microplastic shedding by 54%¹ in part by leveraging Samsung’s proprietary Bubblewash™ technology. By using bubbles to help dissolve and absorb detergent, less heat and energy is required to wash clothes, resulting in reduced abrasion which in turn prevents microplastic emissions.

Samsung Electronics has collaborated with Patagonia to create a special washing machine¹ mode that can prevent microplastic emissions.

The video introduces Shi Dasom, in charge of the Patagonia partnership at the Corporate Sustainability Centre. of Samsung Electronics, and Park Yeri from Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliance Strategic Marketing Team, who share about their dreams of creating a world free from microplastics. Developed in partnership with Patagonia, the Less Microfiber™ Cycle reduces microplastic shedding by 54%² in part by leveraging Samsung’s proprietary Ecobubble™ technology. By using bubbles to help dissolve and absorb detergent, less heat and energy is required to wash clothes, resulting in reduced abrasion which in turn prevents microplastic emissions.
