5E error, what is it and how do I fix it?

5E error is a drain fault. The washing machine has not been able to empty the water within its designated time. There are several things that can be done before you call the service centre.

 

1. Check the drain pump for obstructions

   - drain the washing machine via the emergency drain tube - this can be found behind the drain hatch at floor level on the machine, it is usually on the side or rear of a top load washing machine.

   - Remove the drain pump cover and check for obstruction and for any damage to the pump impellor.

 

2. Check the drain hose for any obstructions

 

3. Check that the outlet of the drain hose is not submerged under water in the drain pipe or sink. Submerging the end of the drain hose will create a syphoning effect causing the washing machine to refill with water when the pump stops.
