Galaxy S8: How to customise your AOD (Always On Display)

Enjoy seamless navigation on the Samsung Galaxy S8 | S8+ (and above) with a sleek and clean interface that aligns beautifully with the smooth Infinity Display. As you unlock from the AOD (Always On Display) and switch between apps, the visual journey on screen is just as striking as the exterior.

1 Open Settings on the device.
2 Select Lock screen
3 Tap Always On Display

If you do not wish to enable the AOD, you can toggle the switch on the right to enable/disable this feature.

Here you will be able to adjust the Display Mode where you can have the AOD on for a set time during the day or if you tap the screen.

 

3 OR Tap Clock Style

Here you will be able to customise the clock on your AOD or lockscreen.

You can choose from the pre-installed clock styles available or if you swipe to the right and click on the paint brush icon you can download themes from the Galaxy Theme store.

1 Swipe up on the home screen, to access your apps

5 Tap Always on display

6 Swipe through the clock styles until you find one with a GIF or an image. Tap this style to select it. You can use your own image or GIF or use one of the pre-installed GIFs. Follow steps 7-12 to use your own. Follow steps 13-15 to use a pre-installed GIF.

7 To use your own image or GIF, tap the + icon
8 Tap the app where the image you want to use is saved. In this example we are choosing the Gallery app

9 Tap Just once
Tap Just once
10 Tap either Screenshots or GIFs, depending on what you want to use. In this example we are adding a GIF
Tap Screenshots or GIFs
11 Tap the GIF or image that you want to use
Tap the GIF or image you wish to use
12 You will be shown a preview of your Always On Display. Tap Done to confirm

You can also choose from one of the GIFs that are pre-installed on your device.

15 You will be shown a preview of your Always On Display. Tap Done to confirm
