How do I add a new contact on my phone?

Learn to create and manage a list of your personal or business contacts. You can save names, mobile phone numbers, home phone numbers, email addresses, birthdays and more for your contacts. Check out the below drop down menus to learn how to create a new Contact on your Galaxy device.

Android OS Version 4.4 (Kit Kat)
1 Open the Contacts app on your device.
2 Tap in the + symbol in the top right corner.
3 Select where you would like to save your new contact.(ie. Sim, Samsung Account, Phone, etc.)

If you have more than one account (e.g. Google account), select an account to which you want to add the contact.

4 Enter the Name into the prescribed field.
5 Add contact details such as a phone number.

To add an international phone number, long press the 0 button to enter in the + symbol to start the country code. 

6 To proceed adding the contact, tap Save.
7 The contact is now added to your Contacts list.
8 Tap on the contact name to view the logged details. If you wish to edit or add more information, tap on the pencil icon.
9 You can add a contact picture, edit the contact's name, add another phone number, or email address.

To add a picture to your contact, tap on the + plus sign on the picture image, then chose between take a photo or select from Gallery. 

10 Once completed with the additional information, tap on the Save icon.
Android OS Version 5.0 (Lollipop) & 6.0 (Marshmallow)
1 Open the Contacts app on your device.
2 Tap in the + symbol in the top right corner.
3 Select where you would like to save your new contact.(ie. Sim, Samsung Account, Phone, etc.)

If you haven't signed into a Samsung Account or Google Account, your contacts will automatically be saved to the internal storage.

4 Enter in your new contact details, then select SAVE once completed

If you would like to enter details like the first, middle and last name of the contact tap on the down arrow next to Name
If multiple contact numbers or email addresses need to be added into a particular contact profile, simply tap on the + symbol beside each contact option

Android OS Version 7.0 (Nougat) & 8.0 (Oreo)
1 Open the Contacts app on your device.
2 Tap on the + symbol at the bottom right corner.
3 Select where you would like to save your new contact.(ie. Sim, Samsung Account, Phone, etc.)
4 Enter in your new contact details, then select SAVE once completed

If you would like to enter details like the first, middle and last name of the contact tap on the down arrow next to Name
If multiple contact numbers or email addresses need to be added into a particular contact profile, simply tap on the + symbol beside each contact option

Android OS Version 9.0 (Pie)
1 Open the Contacts app on your device.
2 Tap on the + symbol at the bottom right corner.
3 Select where you would like to save your new contact.(ie. Sim, Samsung Account, Phone, etc.)
4 Enter in your new contact details, then select SAVE once completed

If you would like to enter details like the first, middle and last name of the contact tap on the down arrow next to Name
If multiple contact numbers or email addresses need to be added into a particular contact profile, simply tap on the + symbol beside each contact option

5 Once saved you will be able to view new contact details
