How Can I Control My Hard Drive's Noise Level?

Last Update Date : Jan 09. 2018

Many Samsung hard drives are equipped with Automatic Acoustic Management. This feature allows you to control the drive's maximum speed which in turn will make the drive run more quietly. Of course, as the noise level decreases, so does the performance; and as the performance increases so does the noise level.

Automatic Acoustic Management can be configured with HUTIL,  the DOS-based hard drive utility. Once HUTIL is running, AAM can be accessed via the TOOL menu. The available settings are Fast, Medium, and Quiet.
