Galaxy S6: What is Do not disturb feature, and how do I use it?

Do Not Disturb Mode


Do not disturb mode mutes all calls and alerts on your device, except those you select as exceptions. You can set Do not disturb mode to turn on and off automatically at scheduled times.

Note: If alarms are not set as an exception, Do not disturb mode will silence all alarms set on your device.

Turn On Do Not Disturb Mode


From Settings

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps 3 .

2. Touch Settings 3 .

3. Touch Sounds and notifications 3 .

Note: It may be necessary to scroll down and touch Sounds and notifications 3 under the Device tab.

4. Touch Do not disturb.

5. Touch the slider 3 to turn Do not disturb mode on 3 .

Using Notification Panel Shortcuts


1. Swipe from the top of the screen to the bottom to access the Notification Panel.

2. Swipe left on the shortcuts at the top of the Notification Panel.

3. Touch the Do not disturb shortcut to turn on the feature.

Set Up Exceptions


If there are select notifications you want to receive even when Do not disturb mode is turned on, you can set these notifications as exceptions.

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps 3 .

2. Touch Settings 3 .

3. Touch Sounds and notifications 3 .

Note: It may be necessary to scroll down and touch Sounds and notifications 3 under the Device tab.

5. Touch Allow exceptions.

6. Touch the slider 3 to turn Allow exceptions on 3 .

7. Touch the slider 3 for each exception you want to turn on 3 .

Choose from the following options:


Alarms: Allow notification sounds and vibrations for alarms. This feature will be turned on automatically.

Calls: Allow notification sounds and vibrations for incoming phone calls.

Messages: Allow notification sounds and vibrations for incoming messages.

Calls and/or messages from: Choose whose Calls and/or Messages will cause your device to play a notification sound or vibrate. Select All, Favorite contacts only, or Contacts only.

Note: This option is only available when the Calls or Messages exceptions are turned on.

Events and reminders: Allow notification sounds and vibrations for Calendar events and personal reminders.

Manage Scheduling


You can set Do not disturb mode to turn on and off automatically at scheduled times.

Important: If you turn on Do not disturb mode manually, it will not turn off automatically at a previously scheduled time.

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps 3 .

5. Touch the slider 3 to turn Set schedule on 3 and touch OK.

6. Touch Days.

7. Mark the checkboxes for the days when you want Do not disturb mode to turn on automatically. Touch 3 to return to the previous screen.

8. Touch Start time. Touch the up or down arrows and AM or PM to set the time Do not disturb mode will turn on. Touch DONE.

9. Touch End time. Touch the up or down arrows and AM or PM to set the time Do not disturb mode will turn off. Touch DONE.
