How can I monitor and extend the battery life in my Samsung Galaxy S5?

Your device has an application that lets you see which applications and features use the most battery power on your device.

 

 

To view the Battery application:

 

1.    From the Home screen touch Apps Apps.

 

2.    Touch Settings settings .

 

3.    Touch Battery battery.

 

4.    Touch an application or feature in the list to view additional information and access its settings. When you view additional information for certain applications you can touch Force stop to close the application.

 

 

Reducing battery consumption

 

Your device provides options that help you conserve battery power. By customising these options and deactivating certain background processes you can use the device for longer between charges:

  • Close unnecessary applications with the Task manager.
  • Discontinue use of live wallpapers.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth feature.
  • Turn off the Wi-Fi feature.
  • Turn off the GPS service.
  • Turn off the mobile data connection.
  • Disable auto-syncing of accounts for which auto-synchronisation isn't important.
  • Decrease the backlight time.
  • Decrease the brightness of the display or use automatic brightness.
  • Turn off haptic feedback.

 

Best practices for battery charging

 

The following guidelines can help you charge your battery properly and safely.

  • Verify that you are using the supplied USB/charging cable and not third party accessories.
  • Ensure the USB/charging cable is connected securely and is not being blocked by a cover/case.
  • Check to see whether a battey or charging indicator appears on the device's display when the USB/charging cable is plugged in.
  • Charge using a wall socket and not a computer/laptop for better results.
  • When the battery is fully charged disconnect the device from the USB/charging cable.

 

Power saving mode

 

Your device comes with a power-saving application that can assist in reduced battery usage.

 

1.    From the Home screen touch Apps apps.

 

2.    Touch Settings settings.

 

3.    Touch Power saving powersaving.

 

4.    Touch Power saving mode.

 

5.    Touch the switch offto turn Power saving mode onon.

 

6.    Select from the options below:

  • Block background data: Reduce background data usage to conserve battery power. Some applications will still use the data connection.
  • Restrict performance: Touch the switch offto turn on the Restrict performance feature on on.  Place a check mark next to the functions you want to turn on to restrict performance.
  • CPU performance: Limit the maximum performance of the CPU to conserve battery power.
  • Screen output: Use a lower frame rate and power level for your device's screen.
  • Turn off touch key light: The Recent apps and Back keys on the front of your device will not light up when they are touched or if the Home key is pressed.
  • Turn off GPS: Disable location services and GPS functions while in Power saving mode.
  • Grayscale mode: Convert colour screens to battery-friendly grayscale.  Touch the switch offto turn Grayscale mode on on.

 

Ultra power saving mode

 

Ultra power saving mode offers extended battery conservation by limiting application access and adjusting the screen to grayscale.

 

1.    From the Home screen touch Apps apps.

 

2.    Touch Settings settings.

 

3.    Touch Power saving PS.

 

4.    Touch Ultra power saving mode.

 

5.    Touch the switch offto turn Ultra power saving mode on on.
