[TV] What are the best viewing conditions for 3D TV in my home?

Last Update Date : Apr 09. 2018

Eliminate or reduce direct sunlight and IR frequencies

Certain conditions in your home may affect the normal operation of your 3D TV and 3D glasses when in 3D mode.

Direct sunlight and some devices that emit IR frequencies (such as fluorescent lights) may interfere and cause your glasses to pick up flickering images.

Where possible we recommend preventing the exposure of your 3D TV and 3D glasses to direct sunlight. We also recommend turning off devices in the room that emit IR frequencies (such as fluorescent lights) as these could cause your 3D glasses to pick up flickering images. External devices with IR frequencies will not affect standard 2D viewing.

Sit at a distance from your TV three times greater than the height of the screen

Experts differ in opinion on the best viewing distance from a 3D TV. We suggest sitting at a distance of three times the height of your TV's screen or at least 10 feet (about 3 metres) from the TV. Experiment to find what works best for you, given the limits of the room size and furniture.

Your eye line should be level with the centre of the screen

Sit far enough from the TV so that your eye line is comfortably level with the centre of the screen. If your TV is on an adjustable wall mount you may also benefit from tilting the TV at a lower angle to establish this eye line level.

Sit as closely in line with the centre of the TV as possible

Not everyone in a room will be able to sit exactly in line with the centre of the TV's screen, but it's best as far as possible to situate furniture so that anyone watching the TV will not be at the extreme left or the extreme right of the room.
