[Galaxy S8/S8+] Why is the fingerprint reader on the back?

Samsung moved the fingerprint reader on the back for the following three reasons:

 

1. Feedback & Familiarity: Galaxy users are used to having a HRM sensor in the same position and we
received positive feedback from customers
regarding its position.

2. Infinity Display¹ : We have moved the fingerprint reader to the back to create the Galaxy S8’s
bezel-less display.

3. Battery: To optimize the design of the device and create room for the battery.
