Samsung Electronics presents the 2020 QLED 8K as the manifestation of this design philosophy. Seeking a more immersive and perfect viewing experience, we designed a TV that removes barriers to the fundamental acts of viewing and hearing. By creating harmony between picture, sound and space, the 2020 QLED 8K is our expression of the most complete TV design yet.
Pushing boundaries to the edge
When it comes to evaluating the immersive quality of a TV, the bezel is a common topic of discussion. Referring to the metal frame and dark border – known as the black mask – around the TV display, the bezel was an unnecessary boundary we sought to remove.
The 2020 QLED 8K is designed with a dramatically reduced black mask and metal frame that are nearly unperceivable to the viewer. The Infinity Screen virtually leaves nothing between the display and its surrounding space, delivering a perfectly immersive viewing experience in breathtaking 8K picture quality. And even when you’re not watching TV, Magic Screen+ allows the massive, nearly bezel-less screen to vanish into the background - making the 2020 QLED 8K a coherent addition to any home.

Perfecting the unity of form and function
Behind the display, a TV’s body supports a frenzy of activity. Ample room is needed to house the processor, circuit board, speaker, panel and various output ports. Still, we wanted to create a slim and flat TV body that was large but unobtrusive. And in order to do so, all the different circuits – including the speaker – had to be redeveloped to fit this new form.
The 2020 QLED 8K features a flat plate type panel that is only 15mm thick. All unnecessary elements in the body were eliminated to create a functional body that is thin but strong enough to stand on its own. And the completely straight back allows the TV to be attached to the wall with minimal gap. As a result, the 2020 QLED 8K boasts straight lines and clean-cut surfaces that make a modern and confident exterior suited for any home.

Amplifying emotional connection
In large screen TVs, sound plays a prominent and important role. Moving with the picture, sound shifts the emotion and atmosphere of a room depending on what’s playing. The 2020 QLED 8K is equipped with Object Tracking Sound+ (OTS+) that produces clear, life-like audio based on on-screen movements. Sound flows out from different directions and balances the tone as if there are multiple speakers hiding throughout the space.
To produce a spatial audio experience, tiny speaker holes are meticulously placed on the sides and top of the 0.8mm metal frame. We developed an ultra-thin speaker unit that generates excellent sound and placed it with a subwoofer in the back panel to overcome limitations in space. The enhanced audio is in perfect harmony with the beautiful TV design, providing users with a sense of emotional stability in their viewing experience.
Standing on power and modesty
The stand is the finishing touch of a TV, bringing completion to its practical functionality. Designed to be as small and discreet as possible, the 2020 QLED 8K stand provides powerful support for the body while minimising its presence to ensure a distraction-free view.
Docked onto its stand, the 2020 QLED 8K looks stunning as it tilts back ever so slightly into the ideal viewing angle. We’ve incorporated the measurements of the optimal distance and height of the screen for maximum viewing pleasure in the design of this strong and modest stand. Its simple form strictly focuses on functionality without meddling in any superfluous sentiment, whereas the deep consideration given to the TV’s angle comes from the examinations of user environments.
The 2020 QLED 8K design is perfectly compatible with any space and piece of furniture. Users are able to dive into worlds within its screen free of distraction. Our TV design is not only a culmination of state-of-the-art technology, but the result of efforts to construct a perfect and complete viewing experience.
