How to connect Samsung Soundbar to a TV?

Soundbar provides a great way to boost your TV’s audio output with a sensational surround sound experience.

To connect your Samsung Soundbar to your TV, follow these steps:

Please note:
• Depending on the models, the Source button can be located either on the right, top or bottom of the Soundbar
• Audio Return Channel (ARC) allows two-way communication between devices using a single HDMI connection

Connecting to a TV Using an HDMI (Digital) Cable

With the Soundbar and TV turned on, connect an HDMI Cable from the HDMI OUT (TV-ARC) jack on the bottom of the soundbar to the HDMI IN (ARC) jack on your TV.

For 2018 TV models:

• From the Home screen, navigate to and select Settings
• Navigate to and select Sound
• Select Sound Output. By default, TV Speaker will be selected
• Select the desired Soundbar
• To finish, select Close

For 2017 TV models:
• Press the Home button on your OneRemote
• Using the Directional pad on your remote, navigate to and select Settings
• Navigate to and select Sound

• Select Sound Output. By default, TV Speaker will be selected

• Select the desired Soundbar

• To finish, select Close

For 2016 TV models:
• From the Home screen, navigate to and select Settings

• Select Sound

• Select Sound Output. By default TV Speaker will be selected

• Select Receiver (HDMI)

• Select Close to finish

Please note:
• When connected, TV ARC will appear in the display window of the Soundbar main unit and the TV's sound will be played
• If the TV's sound is inaudible, press the Source button on the Soundbar or on the remote control to switch to D.IN mode

Please note:
• Depending on the models, the Source button can be located either on the right, top or bottom of the Soundbar

Connecting to a TV Using a Digital Optical Cable

Connect one end of the Optical Audio cable to the Optical Digital IN port on the back of the Soundbar, and then connect the other end to the Optical Digital OUT port on the back of your TV or device.

For 2018 TV models:

• From the Home screen, navigate to and select Settings
• Navigate to and select Sound
• Select Sound Output. By default, TV Speaker will be selected
• Select the desired Soundbar
• To finish, select Close

For 2017 TV models:
• Press the Home button on your OneRemote
• Using the Directional pad on your remote, navigate to and select Settings
• Navigate to and select Sound
• Select Sound Output. By default, TV Speaker will be selected

• Select Audio Out/Optical

• To finish, select Close

For 2016 TV models:
• From the Home screen, navigate to and select Settings

• Select Sound

• Select Sound Output to set the correct sound output for your TV. By default the Sound Output will be set at TV Speaker

• Select the proper sound output source, which in this case will be Audio Out/Optical

• Your Soundbar is now properly connected to your TV. Select Close to exit out of Sound Output
