What is Samsung Pay?
Samsung Pay is a secure and easy-to-use mobile payment service which can be used to make purchases with most retailers that process credit card payments in Thailand. It enables the use on credit cards by leveraging on a new proprietary technology called Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near Field Communication (NFC) to make mobile payments more accessible to both merchants and consumers.
What are Samsung Pay’s main features?
Samsung Pay enables users to make in-store contactless payments using a Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy A5(2016), Galaxy A7(2016), Galaxy A5(2017), Galaxy A7(2017) and Galaxy Note 5. Samsung Pay's main features are its proprietary MST technology and its NFC payments capability which makes it the most accepted mobile payment solution.
How does Samsung Pay work?
Samsung Pay uses proprietary Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near Field Communication (NFC) to make contactless mobile payments. MST and NFC enables the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy A5(2016), Galaxy A7(2016), Galaxy A5(2017), Galaxy A7(2017) and Galaxy Note 5 to make secure transactions with most retailers that process credit card payments in Thailand. We will be making Galaxy A9 Pro (2016) ready for Samsung Pay very soon.
Which payment cards can I register to Samsung Pay?
Samsung is continually expanding the list of payment cards you can register on Samsung Pay. The current list of Samsung Pay supported cards includes:
Which devices will support Samsung Pay?
Samsung Pay is currently supported on the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ , Galaxy A5(2016), Galaxy A7(2016), Galaxy A5(2017), Galaxy A7(2017) and Galaxy Note 5. Other newer flagship models will follow.
In which countries will Samsung Pay be available?
Samsung Pay has launched in South Korea, United States (USA), China, Spain, Australia, Puerto Rico, Brazil, and Singapore. Samsung is working to expand Samsung Pay to other countries.
Can I use Samsung Pay in foreign countries?
Please check your card issuer's policies for transactions in foreign countries. If you can use your card in the country you are travelling to, you should be able to use Samsung Pay to make your payment.
Why should I use Samsung Pay instead of my plastic cards?
Samsung Pay offers a simple and convenient payment experience that is quicker than searching through your wallet or purse. In addition, Samsung Pay adds a level of security to your payment information that physical cards don't have.
What is “Deals” feature?
Samsung Pay provides “Coupons” to user for additional benefit. You can easily find coupons on Samsung Pay and save or redeem them through Samsung Pay. If you want to experience this new feature, just update your Samsung Pay app to the latest.
Which coupons does Samsung Pay provide?
Samsung Pay provides several types of coupons, like food , beauty, restaurant, etc. Categories of coupons can be changed depend on season
Can I register a card when I am outside of Thailand?
Yes. However, attempting to register and activate a card while you are outside of Thailand may require you to contact your bank during the registration process.
Can I use Wi-Fi to register my card in Samsung Pay?
Yes. However, for best experience, the device should have a SIM card installed. If you encounter any issues while registering the card over Wi-Fi, we suggest switching to cellular data connection.
When I attempt to register a card to Samsung Pay, a message is telling me that it cannot provision my card and to contact my bank. What can I do?
We suggest contacting the card issuer for further information. Not all card types are eligible to use with Samsung Pay. Additionally, there may be other items or steps required prior to registering a card with the Samsung Pay service. Kindly contact your card issuer for full details.
How long will it take for my card to activate after registering it to Samsung Pay?
The average amount of time between the request for activation and approval will be within minutes, but can take up to 10 minutes after any additional verification requirements to be met. If this amount of time has been exceeded, remove the card from Samsung Pay and register it again. Contact your card issuer for assistance if you continue to encounter issues.
Can I register the same card with more than one device using Samsung Pay?
Yes. The total number of devices you can register a card to may vary. Normally, the same card can be registered with 3 devices, except for Kbank, it is only one device per card.
How many cards can I register into Samsung Pay?
You can register up to 10 payment cards in Samsung Pay. (Credit Cards)
How can I register my card?
Cards can be either automatically registered by scanning your card with Samsung Pay or manually entering the card information. Then, depending on the policies set by your issuing bank, Samsung Pay will prompt you to verify your identity through a text message or phone call to the bank.
How do I make in-store purchases with Samsung Pay?
1. Initiate Samsung Pay by either swiping-up from the home button or opening the Samsung Pay app from the home screen.
2. Select the card you want to pay with by swiping left or right. (if you have more than one card added)
3. Verify your fingerprint and tap your phone on either the card reader or NFC reader to complete the transaction. Alternatively, enter your 4-digit Samsung Pay PIN if you have chosen not to use the fingerprint feature.
Can Samsung Pay make online or in-app purchases?
Not currently. Samsung Pay is focused on enabling simple and secure in-store payments. Online and in-app purchases will be considered for future releases of Samsung Pay.
How can I cancel a payment made using Samsung Pay?
Cancelling a payment made with Samsung Pay is the same as with a physical card. The exact process will depend on the policies of your card issuer and the merchant you made the purchase from.
How do I return a purchase if I used Samsung Pay to make the payment?
All purchases made with Samsung Pay can be returned according to the store’s policies.
Do I need to have an active internet connection for Samsung Pay to work?่
An active internet connection is not required to make in-store purchases. However, Samsung Pay requires an active internet connection for card registration and activation. Ideally, the device should connect to the internet once per day to ensure that Samsung Pay stays up to date. Most cards will allow you to make up to 10 transactions before you will need to connect to the internet and refresh the Samsung Pay information.
How can I keep track of purchases I’ve made with Samsung Pay?
The last 10 transactions made with Samsung Pay are viewable in the Samsung Pay app for one month from the time of purchase.
In addition, a real-time* push notification with transaction detail will be sent after each Samsung Pay purchase.

* Real-time push notifications require an active internet data connection.
For some cards, Samsung Pay is not keeping track of purchases I have made using the app. Is there an issue with the app or my card?

No. Displaying transaction history is not available for all card types or card issuers. Samsung Pay may not show your transaction history depending on the policies set by your card issuer.

In this case, visit your card issuer’s website shown in the Samsung Pay app to view your transaction information.

The card image I see in Samsung Pay does not match my physical card. Is there an issue with my card?
No. The card displayed in Samsung Pay may not always exactly match the physical card. The key points to look out for, are:
1. The Card Issuer
2. The Card Network (Visa or MasterCard)
3. The last four digits of the physical card.
What should I do if I lose my original payment card and then receive a replacement card?

The payment cards on Samsung Pay are digital versions of your physical payment cards. If you lose your original payment card and then receive a replacement card, you may need to remove the original payment card from Samsung Pay and register the new replacement card.

For your convenience, many card issuers will link your new physical card number to your digital card number in Samsung Pay. This allows you to still have access to your purchasing accounts while you wait for the new physical card to arrive.

Can I continue to use my physical payment card if I disable Samsung Pay or remove the digital equivalent on Samsung Pay?
Yes. When you disable Samsung Pay or remove a registered card, you are only suspending the token, or digital card number, that has been assigned to your device for that card. If you wish to suspend you physical card, please contact your card issuer for assistance.
How is my default payment card in Samsung Pay determined?
There is no "default" card in Samsung Pay. When you open the app or activate the Simple Pay feature by swiping up from the Home Key on supported screens, the first card displayed is either the last card you registered or the last card you viewed or used.
The cashier is asking me for the last four digits of my card number. I provided them the number, but the transaction failed. What went wrong?

In rare cases, the merchant may ask you for the last four digits of the card number.

You will need to provide the last four digits of the digital card number(DPAN), instead of the last four digits of the physical card(FPAN). For ease of use, it is located on the left side of the card in the Simple Pay screen, and in the main app when viewing your registered cards.

Do I need a NFC enabled sim card to use Samsung Pay on my eligible Samsung Pay device?
You do not require a NFC enabled SIM card to use Samsung Pay on your eligible device. The NFC function will be enabled on the phone itself and not on the Sim card, so the usual Micro or Nano SIM card would suffice.
What is the "Retry" button I see when I am trying to make a payment?

The "Retry" button allows you to extend the countdown timer without re-authorisation using your fingerprint or Samsung Pay PIN.

Note: When NFC transaction has been completed, the Retry button will not be shown. In addition, if a payment success notification is received, the retry button will not be shown.

Can I use Samsung Pay for installment payment or using credit card points for redemption?
This feature is currently not available
Can I download Samsung Pay from Play store or Galaxy App?
No, you cannot download Samsung Pay from Google Play Store or Galaxy App Store. App with download link will be installed through Firmware update or MR (Maintenance Release) update.
Can I use Chip-based Credit card with Samsung Pay?
Yes, you can use Chip-based Credit card with Samsung Pay.
Can I use Samsung Pay on rooted device?
No, you cannot use Samsung Pay on rooted device. Samsung cannot guarantee the integrity and security of rooted device
Can I use Samsung Pay on the device that I bought from overseas?
Only devices from the same region, for example Australia, Singapore and Malaysia can be used for Samsung Pay. However, contents and language within Samsung Pay app is based on version of the country that device is bought from.
Can I make a transaction at mPOS (mobile POS) terminal with Samsung Pay?
Samsung Pay can be used at 2 types of mPOS terminal
1. For magnetic stripe card

2. mPOS that supports magnetic stripe and chip-based card

Samsung Pay cannot be used at mPOS that supports chip-based card only
How to use coupons on Samsung Pay?
If you want to use coupon, press “Redeem” button on coupon list. Then Samsung Pay provides coupon number with Barcode and Coupon number itself
Can I use coupon on Favorite card?
Yes, you can use but if you want to use coupons on Favorite card, you should save coupon first. Then you can see saved coupons on Favorite card
Do I need to pay some money to use Coupon on “Deals” ?
At the moment, you don’t need to pay anything to use coupon. You can save money with Samsung Pay and you can use Samsung Pay for your payment after redemption coupon.

How many times can I use each coupon ?
It depends on coupon type. Some of them are N time coupon, but some of them are 1 time coupon. If you redeem 1 time coupon, it will be removed by Coupon list. If N time coupon, you can still find it on the Coupon list
What happened if coupons are expired ?
Each coupon has its own expiry date. If you will not save or redeem it, expired coupons are removed. But please do not disappoint, Samsung Pay keeps providing new coupons continuously
What happened if saved coupons are expired ?
If you saved coupons but did not use them. You can find them on My Deals with “Expired” mark. We keep your saved coupons on My deals to inform you, do not miss good Deals on next time. If you want to deleted expired coupons, you can do that on each coupon details or My Deals home “Delete expired coupons” button
When I tried to redeem coupon, coupon has expiration time out. What does it mean ?
Each coupon has its own expiration time depends on coupon. (i.e. 15 Minutes, 1 hour, etc). Within this time, you can use your coupon only one time, and if you would not use it, you can use this coupon again. So, please keep in mind this policy and do not miss the opportunity
What is MST?
Magnetic Secure Transmission™ or MST, is a ground-breaking method of sending data using magnetic waves. MST replicates a card swipe by wirelessly transmitting magnetic waves from the supported Samsung device to a standard card reader. MST turns every card reader into a contactless payment receiver.
What is NFC?
Near Field Communication or NFC is a method of wirelessly transmitting data using radio waves. Samsung Pay uses NFC to wirelessly transmit payment data to payment terminals with NFC readers that have been activated for use.
What is the difference between MST and NFC technology?
For Samsung Pay, either MST or NFC technology can be used to make secure, contactless transactions. The key difference is that most merchants can accept MST, which makes Samsung Pay the most widely accepted mobile payment service.
Which is more secure, MST or NFC?
In the context of Samsung Pay, MST and NFC have the same level of security. The payment information transmitted by both MST and NFC is protected using tokenization.
How close does the device have to be to the card reader for MST to work?
The device must be placed within 5cm of the card reader in order for MST to work.
How accurate is the fingerprint scanner?
The fingerprint scanner is very accurate. It has a “False-Acceptance Rate” less than 0.00002%.
What happens if my fingerprint is not recognized?
You can enter the Samsung Pay PIN you created as a backup option. Samsung Pay will remove the data from the app and deregister all linked cards, if the fingerprint is not recognized after 20 consecutive attempts and the Samsung Pay PIN has not been entered.
Samsung Pay application was crashing several times , even after clearing the data under Application Manager settings.
Please re-install the Samsung Pay application and try again.
If I send in my phone for repair, do I have to reset Samsung Pay?
All payment information in Samsung Pay will be deleted if necessary prior to the specific repair. You will need to set up Samsung Pay and add your payment card information again.

All payment information in Samsung Pay will be deleted if necessary prior to the specific repair. You will need to set up Samsung Pay and add your payment card information again.
What should I do if I have an issue adding a payment card to Samsung Pay?

Please contact the card issuer and verify you are adding an eligible payment card. Some cards from participating banks may not be supported in Samsung Pay.

Samsung Pay also requires an active internet connection when adding a payment card. Verify that you are connected to the iternet via a Wi-Fi network or your mobile data connection.

What is Payment Framework?
Payment Framework is the basic library that connects between Application and Knox. App uses Payment Framework to access the information that is under Secure Environment within Knox such as Fingerprint.
Why I do not receive SMS OTP when registering KBank credit card on Samsung Pay?
To receive SMS OTP you need to subscribe to K-Mobile Banking Plus and then you can enroll your credit card on Samsung Pay app.
How secure is Samsung Pay?
Samsung Pay uses Tokenization, a Secure Environment, and Samsung KNOX to secure your payment information. Additionally, you verify either your fingerprint or a 4-digit PIN when making purchases.
What is Tokenization?
Tokenization is a method of replacing your sensitive payment card information (Card Number, Expiration Date, Security code, etc.) with a device-specific ‘Token’ which acts as a surrogate value. In mobile payments, Tokens are used to protect your payment information and to reduce the security risks inherent to plastic cards.
What is a Secure Environment, or Trusted Execution Environment?
A Secure Environment is a physically segregated chip in the phone which only allows access to highly sensitive operations/information such as fingerprint and payment information. Normal applications and malware have no access to the information in a Secure Environment.
How is Samsung KNOX used with Samsung Pay?
Samsung KNOX runs scans to see if your device is secure. Samsung KNOX will permanently disable Samsung Pay on a compromised device in order to protect your payment information.
Does Samsung Pay store my personal/payment information on a server or my device?

No. Samsung does not store your personal/payment information on a Samsung server or the device.

Samsung Pay does not change the way your payment information is stored or handled when you make purchases. Your payment information will continue to be managed by your card network and card issuer. Only a device-specific Token, which is used to replace your sensitive payment information, is stored on the device.

What should I do if my device is lost or stolen?
If your device is lost or stolen, you can use Samsung’s Find My Mobile service to Lock Samsung Pay (remotely disable) or to Wipe Samsung Pay (remove all the payment cards registered onto your device). Please visit https://findmymobile.samsung.com for further information.
Does Samsung Pay have access to my bank accounts?
No. Samsung Pay does not have access to your bank accounts.
Will my Samsung Pay information still be on my device if it is formatted?
No. Formatting your device will remove all payment cards registered to your device.
How do I use "Find My Mobile" to manage Samsung Pay?
If your device is lost or stolen, your payment information will not be accessible without your fingerprint or Samsung Pay PIN. For added security, the Samsung Find My Mobile service can remotely lock or erase your payment cards in Samsung Pay.
What is Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card?
Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card is a reloadable prepaid card that works with merchants or retailers that accept Mastercard. Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card will be provided to Samsung's customer who purchased a new eligible model of Samsung smartphone.
Which device models are able to add Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card to Samsung Pay ?
Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card will initially launch with the following models.

How to use Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card on Samsung Pay ?
Step 1. Register card on Galaxy Gift Application for card activation
 - Open Galaxy Gift application -> select menu "My Privilege" -> select promotion "redeem by Galaxy Gift Card".
 - Press " Activate" (if doesn't log in, the system will show message for log in first).
 - Input mobile number for requesting OTP.
 - Input firstname, surname, ID card number and Ref1/Cus.No. with 12 Digits (see on the back of the card) the system will show the balance of the card. The card ready to use with merchants or retailers that accept Mastercard.
Step 2. Add Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card into Samsung Pay
 - Open Samsung Pay Application.
 - Press Add cards -> select Add Credit cards.
 - Scanning card number or enter card manually.
 - Input more info -> Card holder name (EN only) -> Expiry date (MM/YY) -> 3-digits Security code on the back of the card (CVC/CVV) - > Press Confirm.
 - Accept Term and Condition.
 - Choose card verification method (Request OTP by SMS or Call Center)
 - Add Signature
 - Add card into Simple Pay
 - Card ready to use

How to top up Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card?
Customers are able to topup via
1. Samsung Pay in "Card details". Press "Recharge" button to top up.
2. Galaxy Gift Application -> select menu "My Privilege -> select promotion "redeem by Galaxy Gift Card" -> Top up
3. Top up on Web URL : http://www.galaxygiftcard.net -> Log in then select top up

How many Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card can be added into Samsung Pay ?
Customers are able to register up to 10 cards (included credit card and Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card) but only one Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card can be activated with 1 ID card number and 1 Device only.
How to Delete Card from Samsung Pay
Customers are able to delete card by themselves. Go to Samsung Pay application -> menu -> delete card -> input pin or scan finger print -> press confirm
How long is Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card valid?
Normally 3 years as printed on card.
What should I do If Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card already added into Samsung Pay but unable to check balance or top up?
1. Check Samsung Pay application version and update to latest version.
2. After updated to latest version, delete card by selecting Menu -> delete card -> Input Pin or Finger Print Scan -> Press Confirm
3. Add the card into Samsung Pay application again. After completed, there will be balance checking menu and recharge button on the app.
What should I do If need to withdraw money from the Card?
Customers need to register additioal information to activate cash withdrawal. Visit http://www.galaxygiftcard.net for more information. Any withdrawal will cost 30 Baht fee per transaction. Customers will receive money in the next 3 days after withdrawing. The supported banks are as below

One Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card can be added into 20 devices at the same time
How much is the maximum limitation topup money for Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card?
Normally, with basic registration customer can topup upto 5,000 THB to the card. And after customer done full registration, maximum topup limitation will be increased to 50,000 THB. For more information, please contact T2P Call Center 02-259-1400.
If I want to change my mobile number that is registered with Galaxy Gift Prepaid Card, what should I do?
