How to record audio on the Samsung phone voice recorder app

How do I use the Voice Recorder app?

The Samsung Voice Recorder app is designed to provide simple and effective recordings with a high quality sound. Use the recorder to save voice memos, interviews and convert up to 10 minutes of speech to text, helping to make your life easier.

1 Tap on the Voice Recorder app to open it. It may be within the Samsung folder

Please note: the Voice Recorder app comes pre-installed on most Samsung devices. You can also download it from the Play Store and the Galaxy Store

2 Choose between Standard and Interview mode. Standard mode provides a simple interface and uses both microphones to create one recording. Interview mode uses both the top and bottom microphones to record the interviewer and interviewee. In Interview mode you will see two waveforms, one for each microphone

3 Tap the record button to begin recording audio

4 Tap the pause button during the recording to take a break

5 Tap the play button to listen to your recording from the beginning

6 Slide the waveform left or right to change where you are in the recording. This allows you to re-record or record over the recording

7 Tap the record button again to resume recording

8 Tap the BOOKMARK button to place a reminder on the recording. This allows you to easily return to an important part of the recording

9 Once you're finished with your recording, tap the stop button

Speech-to-text mode acts like your own personal transcriber, converting up to ten minutes of speech into written notes. To get the best results you should try and keep your device around 8cm from your mouth and speak slowly and clearly.

5 Tap the record button to begin. For the best results you should keep the phone within 8 cm of your mouth and speak clearly

6 Once finished, tap the stop button to save your recording

Once you have made and saved your first recording, a new option will appear in the app. All of your recordings can be categorised, helping you to stay organised and find the recording you need in a flash.

1 Tap List. All of your saved recordings will be shown

Please note: the List option will not appear in your app until you have saved a recording

Once you're set up with the Voice Recorder app there are a few settings you can change to make your experience even better. Through the settings menu you can change the recording quality, record in stereo, block calls while a recording is taking place and listen to your saved recordings one after the other.

5 Tap the quality that you want to use. You can choose from Low, Mid and High

Please note: recordings taken at higher qualities will need more storage space than recordings taken at lower qualities

6 Tap Record in stereo to use both microphones to record while in standard mode

7 Tap Block calls while recording to prevent any calls from sounding while you are recording

8 Tap Play continuously to allow your recordings to play one after the other while you are listening to them

Some users of the Voice Recorder app have reported that their recordings are ending early when the screen locks. This can be easily fixed by giving the app permission to run in the background.
