Is the Gear S2 water and dust resistant?

The Gear S2 is classed as an IP68 device, however damage may occur if water or dust enters the watch. Follow these tips to avoid damage to the device and maintain its water and dust resistant performance.

  • Do not immerse the device in water deeper that 1.5 metres;
  • Do not submerge the device for longer than 30 minutes;
  • Do not expose the device to running water; i.e. from a tap, the ocean or swimming;
  • If the device is exposed to freshwater, dry it thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth;
  • If the device is exposed to a liquid other than freshwater, rinse the Gear S2 in freshwater and then dry with a clean, soft cloth;
  • If the device is dropped or suffers an impact, the water and dust resistance may be damaged;
  • The touchscreen and other features may not work properly if the Gear S2 is used in water or other liquids.
