How do I manage the application permissions on my Samsung Galaxy Note5?

Permissions allow applications access to features (such as Contacts, Storage, and Location) to improve user experience. You can turn permissions on or off for individual applications. Some of the reasons for turning off application permissions include increased privacy and improved battery life. For example, preventing a social media application from accessing your contacts can help protect your privacy. Battery life can be improved by turning off the location permission for applications that do not need it. Turning permissions off can negatively impact the functionality of an application, such as turning off Location permissions for the Maps application. However, if you attempt to use a feature of an application that requires a permission you have turned off, you will have an opportunity to turn it back on.

Screens and settings available may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Change Application Permissions

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch Settings.

It may be necessary to switch the Settings menu to list view by touching More options More Options Icon > View as > List view.

  3. Scroll to and touch Applications.

  4. Touch Application manager.

  5. Touch the application whose permissions you want to change.

  6. Touch Permissions.

  7. In the list of features the application uses, you can touch the slider on next to any permission you want to turn off.

To see what each permission allows the application to do, touch More options More Options Icon > All permissions.
