Amp up your personal style with
sustainable accessories

Sean Wotherspoon’s Samsung collaboration unleashes his creativity with playful eco-fashion accessories to add flair to your Galaxy devices.

From streetwear to technology, artist and designer Sean Wotherspoon is known for injecting his fashionable designs with sustainable materials, nostalgic flair and color. His latest collaboration with Samsung is no exception. Including accessories for Galaxy Watch4 Series and Galaxy S21, it’s bursting with bold colors, prints and graphical elements designed to express personal style, and comes with reusable packaging that sets a new standard.

A harmonious collaboration

At the age of 17, Sean moved to Richmond, Virginia, and quickly became a leader in the thrifting world. He later used his knack for vintage finds to open Round Two, a culture-shifting shopping experience for collectors of sneakers and upcycled fashion. He soon established additional outposts in Los Angeles.

Fast forward to today, and Sean has teamed up with Samsung to create a collection of sustainable accessories, which drop this Earth Day. The collaboration includes watch bands and phone cases for the Galaxy Watch4 Series and Galaxy S21, and each stylish accessory is in harmony with Samsung’s commitment to sustainability. This includes using plastic-free packaging and giving its products a second life through its Certified Re-Newed program. Speaking of the partnership, Sean says, “I think we both align on the idea that working toward sustainability doesn’t have to be intimidating.” He notes that when he signed on for the project, Samsung was already using some of the same vegan-friendly and eco-conscious materials he leverages in his designs.

Bold designs to boost your personal style

For his irreverently fun designs, Sean looked to nature. The new and aptly named Orchid , Rain and Dawn watch bands and phone cases have illustrated patterns that include symbols of planet Earth, peace signs, leaves, raindrops and the sun. Each one makes a bold, eye-catching statement.

A dinosaur makes an appearance, too. “That really means a lot to me because my son’s a super dino nerd, and he's re-sparked this love for dinosaurs in me,” Sean says. He hopes that when people see that new Galaxy Watch4 Series band, they might feel that same bit of nostalgia.

Eco-conscious materials and packaging

His creative approach starts with exploring textures and details, like how light will hit a product or how it will photograph. As a result, sourcing the right materials blending good looks with sustainability is paramount in his process.

The watchbands are comprised of an eco-conscious TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) material, and can be recycled when the time comes. The Galaxy S21 phone cases are also made by 100% recycled TPU materials which utilizes materials that make them fully biodegradable and safe for the environment.

“We also carried the design through the cases and through the packaging,” Sean says. “And because the box looks great, you’re going to keep it and hopefully find another use for it, making it even more sustainable.”

Living sustainably through everyday actions

Nature clearly holds a special place in Sean’s heart, but his designs aren’t the only way he looks to influence more sustainable lifestyles.

He suggests ways individuals can help address major environmental issues by making small steps, which include switching from disposable to a reusable water bottle and eating vegan one day a week. Another method Sean encourages is purchasing secondhand or upcycled products, like Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed smartphones.

“When you see a brand taking in their used product, refurbishing them, and then offering them back to the consumer, this means the most to me. It’s like you truly believe in what you made before and believe in it enough to give it back to a consumer with a warranty included,” Wotherspoon says.
