While the pan does work - there are two issues with the pan.

First, there is a safety issue. The rolled edge on the pan on one side isn't finished off completely, leaving a sharp edge - which can cause cuts while cleaning the underside of the pan after use. This issue was reported to Samsung, but because the pan is no longer under warranty, our only option is to buy a new pan - for another $249. Very disappointing for what is a safety-related manufacturing defect.

The other is a problem when using the pan. As the pan heats up, it expands slightly and can cause one side of the try to drop during steam cooking. This appears to be a design flaw - either the tray needs to be a little wider - or the supports in the pan need to be a little deeper - to prevent the tray from dropping while cooking.

Again, for a pan that's relatively expensive - at $249, very disappointing.

While we are enjoying using the Samsung double oven, the steam cook pan is frustrating - at the cost - and Samsung's unwillingness to stand behind their product and replace it due to a safety defect.

Safety issue and design flaw in the Steam Cook pan

Rodel

This type of steam cooking can be accomplished by using a regular roasting pan with lid and a rack. Place a 1/2" of water in the bottom which creates the steam as it is cooking. I've done this for over 50 years with beef, pork, chicken and it works fantastic.

There's Another Way!

I, too, purchased a whole new kitchen of Samsung products, and was stunned to learn that the steam pan was not included with the double oven, which features a steam function that will only work with an additional $249 pan. Misrespresentation, and enough to infuriate a person. So I ordered one several months ago, and the sales person who I bought all the other appliances from just informed me that he keeps checking with Samsung and they keep telling him it'll be another month. I'm ready to give up.

Rip off

Stunned that this is NOT included in the double oven. I have just purchased a fridge, dishwasher and double wall oven and I searched high and low for the steam cook tray and no where to be found. Just off a chat and stunned this is $250 extra!!!

ITS NOT INCLUDED

It took me to order this 3 times and months of waiting for each order before ever receiving this over priced steam tray. Samsung reps keep telling you lies upon lies that the item is in stock but you see no movement on your order. Ater waiting over a month decided to cancel and reordered and still no tracking information, no movement, I guess 3rd time was a charm, cancelled and waited 4 weeks more and tracking info finally showed it was on its way. Overpriced item should’ve been included with steam oven in the first place.
