SAMSUNG SDS Concludes an E-Business Consulting Alliance with CISCO

Samsung SDS launches into an e-business consulting market in a joint effort with Cisco Systems, a US-based global network equipment company.

Samsung SDS (CEO Hong ki Kim) announced on December 9 its plan to promote e-business consulting in Korea in a joint effort with the US-based Cisco Systems (www.cisco.com) by concluding a strategic alliance on e-business consulting based on Cisco's superior e-business solution.

According to this alliance, where key roles will be played by Samsung SDS' Consulting Division and Cisco's IBSG (Internet Business Solution Group), Cisco will teach Samsung SDS' consultants its e-business solution and share a comprehensive consulting data, and based on that establish its presence in the Korean e-business consulting and system integration markets by making Samsung SDS the main axis.

Samsung SDS is expected to benefit from this alliance by acquiring not only Cisco's highly advanced e-business solution but its mammoth e-business know-how in terms of marketing and sales as well, and make a significant influence on the domestic market by participating in the Korean e-business consulting market pre-occupied by foreign companies.

On the other hand, the alliance will enable Cisco to establish its presence in the Korean consulting and SI markets by securing professional consultants in Korea who will propagate its e-business solution, and increase its sales from network equipment.

In the future, both companies plan to form a professional e-business consultant group inside Samsung SDS, negotiate on a more detailed collaboration plan, and prior to everything else apply Cisco's e-business solution and provide consulting to Samsung's affiliates, as well as focus on conducting comprehensive consulting including large-scale consulting on e-business once or twice a year.

Currently, Cisco Systems has been using its diverse self-developed Internet Business Solution in its supply line and all kinds of services, and managed to save 1.352 billion dollars in 2000 alone. IBSG (Internet Business Solution Group), who concluded this alliance with Samsung SDS, will also contribute to increasing Cisco's equipment sales by actively supporting consulting business through propagating and sharing e-business solution with customers
