SAMSUNG Announces Plan for End-to-End Digital Video over IP Solution

AMSTERDAM, IBC 2002, September 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., nCUBE Corporation and Liberate Technologies (Nasdaq: LBRT - News) today announced their joint plan to deliver an integrated end-to-end digital video over IP solution that includes affordable consumer premises devices, on-demand video asset management, plus server based configuration, content, provisioning and customer care support for IP based delivery of video programs, content and services for DSL-based telco networks. The three companies plan on offering the combined solution to network operator customers worldwide later this year.

The SMT-F240 incorporates National Semiconductor's x86-based Geode CPU running at 266MHz. The digital set-top is utilizing the Linux operating system. The set-top on display at IBC supports MPEG 2 and MPEG 4.
