Inspiring Products And Vision Unveiled by SAMSUNG Electronics


NEW YORK, September 24th, 2002 - Expanding its leadership in the consumer electronics industry, Samsung Electronics today will showcase its new line of products designed to deliver the future of digital convergence technology to consumers across the United States.



As part of its "DigitAll Inspiration, 2002 Samsung World Tour," launched today in New York, Samsung Electronics, CEO, Vice Chairman Jong Yong Yun will highlight the company's focus on its vision for digital convergence. The company will introduce key products based on this vision, including a couple of Palm OS-based smart phones in SPH-i330 and SPH-i500, Camera Phone, as well as a series of advanced display products including DLP ™ projection TV, world's thinnest PDP TV, and world's largest TFT LCD TV. A revolutionary Wireless Hand PC NEXiO S160 is also featured. Their extensive line of convergence products even includes an Internet Refrigerator.



Also being introduced are core components including world's first 2-gigabit NAND flash memory chip, whose incredible capacity will revolutionize the storage industry.

Following its New York debut, the Samsung World Tour will travel to Beijing, Singapore, and Paris, introducing Samsung's DigitAll Inspiration theme globally.



According to a recent survey by Interbrand, Samsung had the fastest growing brand in the previous year as a result of a heavy investment in R&D, brilliant product design and new upscale image. Samsung executives will discuss what consumers can expect from the company in the years to come, as well as background on the initiatives that have contributed to Samsung's recent successes and growing market leadership in consumer electronics.



Samsung's new products reemphasize the company's commitment to bringing the power of digital technology to users with a variety of interests and needs. Products highlighted at today's event include:



.Smart Phone SPH-i330: A complete Palm PDA and a 3G wireless phone in one.



.Smart Phone SPH-i500: This Palm-compatible, 3G enabled Internet-phone, gives consumers the convenience of a phone, PDA, and a positioning device. And its clamshell form factor makes the design one of the most compact smart phones on the market today



.Camera Phone SGH-V200: Perfect for business and family moments, Samsung's new camera phone lets users take and send digital still images to the person on the other end of the line. With its embedded digital camera, users can send high-resolution images over the wireless network





.DLP™ Projection TV HLM617W This 61 inch projection TV uses the same Digital Light Processing (DLP™) technology as is used in movie theaters, delivering visual quality comparable to that of a PDP TV to the customers, at a considerably lower price. The set is also equipped with 2-way 4-speaker sound subsystem.



.PDP TV SPN 4235: Samsung's new 42 inch, enhanced visual quality, big screen PDP TV is also world's thinnest, with its mere 2 1/3 inch width. Samsung also plans to soon break the $100-per-diagonal-inch price



.TFT LCD LTM405W: With a 40 inch display screen, Samsung's LTM405W is world's largest LCD TV by a margin of ten inches. This is the flagship of Samsung' fleet of TFT LCD TVs that includes 15, 17, 22, 29, 32, and 40 inch models.



.NEXiO S160 Wireless Hand PC : Samsung's NEXiO S160 has a 400Mhz processor and built-in 802.11b WLAN connectivity, providing the mobile worker with ubiquitous computing solution. Its 5-inch Wide-VGA screen, displays Web and business documents in crisp detail without awkward horizontal scrolling.



.Home PAD™ Refrigerator: Samsung's new Internet Refrigerator, offers a traditional appliance coupled with the benefits of cutting-edge technology. In addition to storing food, consumers can email, "surf the 'Net" and watch a favorite DVD - all from one unit - thanks to the Internet refrigerator's touch screen control panel, which is also a detachable tablet computer.



.World's First 2-Gigabit NAND Flash Memory: The groundbreaking application of 90nano process enabled Samsung to achieve the cell size of less than 0.05㎛². When commercially available, this can bring drastic changes to the storage market by replacing some hard drives and even camcorder tapes. The mass production is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2003 using dedicated 300mm wafer production line.
