August, 25, 2004 (Athens) - Today, the 500,000th visitor to the Olympic Rendezvous at Samsung (OR@S) was recorded. As a result of the huge popularity of the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games so far, visitor numbers are far beyond those expected at OR@S. The OR@S stands out as a beacon in the OAKA where spectators, fans and athletes alike can come and enjoy themselves in a cool and relaxing atmosphere, chatting over the latest results and medal news at the Olympic Games. Over 6 00,000 visitors are now expected to visit it during the overall period of t he Games.
OR@S is the center of a wide range of activities aimed at entertaining spectators and assisting competitors and sharing the Olympic spirit with everyone. During The Games Samsung has hosted a series of “National Days”, cultural entertainment events which celebrated various cultures of Olympic nations . It will also be hosting a series of auctions for Olympic memorabilia to raise money for the charity ‘Right To Play'. Fans will be able to meet their national heroes and heroines, enjoy especially created themed events, memorabilia auctions, musical performances and a spectacular laser show. Visiting athletes include stars from eight nations such as Sydney Gold medallist Cathy Freeman and competitors such as Darren Campbell (well known sprinter from the UK), Niki Xanthou (the popular Greek long jumper) and Miguel Indurain (legendary Spanish cyclist and Atlanta 1996 gold medallist) all of whom are also Samsung Athlete Ambassadors.

Commenting on this surprise presentation he said:
“I was very surprised. I have been to the OR@S every day to enjoy the entertainment. When I heard there would be a celebration of the 500,000th visitor, I didn't think it was going to be me. I think this facility is really impressive and I will certainly be coming back for the remaining days of the Games.”
