SAMSUNG Electronics Introduces Enhanced Web Video Phone at Comdex Fall '98-Industry's First Ja

SEOUL, Korea - November 17, 1998 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has unveiled Web Video Phone II, an enhanced version of Samsung's original product, at the '98 COMDEX Show (Nov 16-20). Sophisticated but simple, the new multimedia device provides the regular telephone functions (caller ID, call waiting, hands free, digital answering) as well as satisfies all IP telephony requirements.

A hardware coder/decoder is built in, so data from Web Video Phone is compressed and digitized. Therefore, companies looking to begin providing IP telephony service can minimized their investment in new systems by adopting the Samsung product.

Web Video Phone can be used with both public telephone networks and the Internet. In comes with a modem and uses Ethernet protocol to support the 10 Base T. As a result, this product can easily be installed in offices. At the same time, high performance can be enjoyed in the home via the latest multimedia networks such as xDSL or cable telephony networks.

When the user connects to a designated corporate home page, he or she can read product information and simultaneously contact a salesperson with a PC at the company simply by pressing an icon. This Web-Touch & Talk function allows the company great exposure for very little money. The Internet phone rates are very cheap, and when the toll-free 800 number is used, IP telephony covers the charge.

The user, of course, can be in the comfort of his or her own home and talk directly with a company representative. The card reader and advanced security technology ensures that all transactions are completed without any risk.

Samsung Web Video Phone saves desk space, time and money. It is an ideal solution for not only the corporate but also the residential environment, hotels, health care projects and home automation industry.
