SAMSUNG’S Next-Generation MINI-DV Camcorders Are Small In Size, Big On Features

Las Vegas, NV - Samsung, the award-winning camcorder design innovator, combines superior picture with a host of new features in a next-generation line of Mini-DV camcorders that is 15% smaller in size than last year’s models. Two new Mini-DV Compact models and two new Mini-DV Mega models offer Samsung’s latest usability enhancements along with high optical zoom for superior picture in a compact camcorder. Samsung’s entire Mini-DV line will be on display during CES 2006 at the Samsung booth, #11033 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 5th - 8th.

"Samsung’s 2006 compact Mini-DV Camcorders represent an innovative combination of form and function," said Aaron Novak, Marketing Manager for Camcorders, Samsung Electronics America. "The ultra-compact design combines convenience, elegance and portability with high-quality image capture and an array of new feature enhancements designed to provide consumers with the ultimate value-rich camcorders".

Mini-DV Compact

Samsung’s SC-D365 and SC-D363 Mini-DV compact camcorders both feature a 680K pixel CCD for superior quality picture in a truly small package. MPEG4 recording, web cam capability, and 800 x 600 still image capture keeps these camcorders ahead of the pack in versatility and convenience. And USB 2.0 and PictBridge™ technology make file transfer a snap.

The step-up SC-D365 adds a 33x optical zoom and a versatile 4-in-1 multi-memory card slot that handles SD Card, MMC Card, Memory Stick or Memory Stick Pro storage. The 2.7" wide LCD (230K) and color viewfinder make it even easier to set up the perfect angle. The SC-D365 also offers an LED video light, an analog input, and a remote control.

The SC-D363 features a 30x optical/1200x digital zoom with a 2.5" LCD, color viewfinder and SD/MMC slot. It offers an SD/MMC slot and USB 2.0 compatibility for easy transfer of digital video files to a PC.

Mini-DV Mega

Samsung’s SC-D965 and SC-D963 Mini-DV Mega camcorder models feature a 1.1 MegaPixel CCD with 26x Optical Zoom. The step-up SC-D965 offers a 2.7" Wide 230K High Resolution LCD, with a 4-in-1 multi memory card slot and 64MB of built-in memory. The SC-D963 features a 2.5" LCD, color viewfinder, SD/MMC slot, and 32 MB built-in memory. The MiniDV Mega camcorders feature true Samsung flexibility with 1152 x 864 digital still image capture, MPEG4 video recording and web cam capability. Both models also offer USB 2.0 connectivity for fast, easy file transfer and PictBridge technology.

All of Samsung’s 2006 Mini-DV camcorder models feature the company’s latest functionality enhancements. Topping the list is true 16:9 wide mode. When the 16:9 effects are selected, widescreen footage can be displayed on a digital TV through the Samsung camcorder without image distortion. New recording and playback features enhance the home video experience. For recording, Wind Cut Plus lets users keep original sound and cut only background wind noise, while the Stereo Enhancement feature creates a vivid divide between right and left channels for a stereo sound field effect. Playback audio effects allow users to focus audio playback on the human voice, music or sound direction and add echo effects. An advanced GUI provides easy navigation of camera functions, and the upgraded battery information provides detailed battery status to let you know when the power is low.

The SC-D363 will be available in January 2006 for a MAP of $299.99. The SC-D365 will be available in February 2006 for a MAP of $349.99. The SC-D963 will be available in March 2006 for a MAP of $399.99. The SC-D965 will be available in February 2006 for a MAP of $449.99.
