SAMSUNG Announces Partnership with International Paralympic Committee and COMPARTO Torino 2006 Paralympic Games Organising Committee

Turin, February 9th, 2006 - Worldwide Olympic Partner Samsung announced today a new partnership with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and COMPARTO Torino 2006 Paralympic Games Organizing Committee.




The partnership was announced in Torino at a Signing Ceremony with members of the Paralympic Movement including: IPC President Sir Philip Craven, President of the Committee for the Paralympic Winter Games of Torino 2006 Tiziana Nasi, and Andrea Chiarotti, Paralympic athlete and current captain of the Italian Ice Sledge Hockey team. Samsung Electronics President Hay Keong Yang was also present at the ceremony.



"With this new partnership, Samsung is excited to broaden its contribution to the Olympic Movement by providing support for the Paralympics and Torino 2006 Paralympic Winter Games," said Mr Hay Keong Yang, President of Samsung Electronics. "The ability of Paralympic athletes to inspire people and to encourage them to challenge themselves is something we admire greatly. It is our honor to formally help support their efforts."




Paralympic athlete Mr Andrea Chiarotti, captain of the Italian Ice Sledge Hockey team said: "It is my pleasure to be here as a representative of Paralympic athletes worldwide to witness this important signing. Corporate sponsors like Samsung are an absolute necessity for allowing us to train and compete in the sports that we love."

The Torino 2006 Paralympic Winter Games will be held from 10 to 19 March, 2006.

Samsung is the exclusive sponsor of the Torino 2006 Paralympic Winter Games Competition Bibs.
